Overview

This tour covers every part of the bamboo forest. By rickshaw and on foot! The first stop after cruising through the bustling main street is the bamboo forest. Enjoy the vivid green bamboo as your guide pulls you along the path reserved for rickshaws only, away from other visitors. Have your camera or mobile phone ready to take pictures. You don’t want to miss this. After passing by the Nonomiya Shrine you will enter the second part of the bamboo forest, which is designed like a little park. Here we can take great group pictures with the stunning green bamboo in the background. On the way to the third and last section of the bamboo forest, you will pass by a well-kept scene from the Edo period The third part of the bamboo forest can only be accessed on foot, so our guide will park the rickshaw within walking distance and then guide you to the most famous and impressive part of the bamboo forest. (To avoid the crowds here, we recommend starting the tour before noon)

Itinerary

  • Bamboo Forest Street

    Get off the rickshaw and walk to the most famous part of the bamboo forest which can not be accessed by rickshaw. The walk includes going up and down a steep slope.

    Shinto shrine nestled in the bamboo forest.

  • Bamboo Forest Street

    Pass through the bamboo grove for great pictures

  • Ebisuya Rickshaw Office (Pass By)

    Your rickshaw tour operator for the rickshaw tour in Arashiyama. Tour can be customized and choice of attractions possible depend on tour duration selected.

  • Rakushisha (Pass By)

    Cottage of a famous Haiku Poet. This cottage is built in the traditional pastoral style, with a straw thatched roof.

せっかく予約したトロッコに乗車できなくなり、 予定がめっちゃくちゃになって、とても落ち込んでいましたが、 俥夫さんのおかげて気分転換になり、素敵な思い出ができました。 丁寧な​運転しながら、色んな説明していただき、 配慮してくださって本当にありがとうございます。 大変なはずなのに、辛さを一切見せなく、 最後まで笑顔のまま（しかも営業スマイルではなく）でプロ根性に尊敬しています。 プロカメラに並べる写真の撮り方に脱帽です！！ 本当にありがとうございました！！ My planning went to a mess because I missed my reserved Sagano Romantic Train. It supposed to be a tragedy but because of Ebisuya, it became one of the best memories that we had on this trip. The drivers, Mr HIGASHI and Mr Akki, they were so kind and attentive. They explained and discussed which course suited us best, rather than pushing us to pay more money. They handled the route with a lot of care and friendliness. They described not only the history, but also the building of temple which you can tell their passion toward the job. Despite it is a rather physically demanding job, their professionalism is just off the chart. The photos they took for us was so amazing which you would think they were taken by experienced camera pros!! Highly recommend to those who visit ARASHIYAMA for the first time, travelling with elderlies and in times of peak hours/season. Definitely worth it!!

We had a small group and this was a fabulous way to see the bamboo forest. Our guide Taiga was so friendly, shared so much information along the way and took the most amazing photos of us on our mobile phones. Highly recommend.
