Overview

On this half-day private tour, we will visit picture-postcard places of Kyoto in Higashiyama area and enjoy walking through quiet alleys. To start with, we will visit Kiyomizu-dera Temple, one of Kyoto's most famous landmarks, and visit the photogenic places nearby that look like they have appeared in films! After strolling the scenic and hidden paths in Higashiyama area, we will stop by the oldest Zen temple in Kyoto, Kenninji Temple, to adore their beutiful gardens. Finally, we will take a walk the picturesque streets of Gion, where "Memoirs of a Geisha" was set in, to end our tour. If you are interested in Japanese culture and history of Kyoto, this tour will be a great introduction!

Excellent guided tour of Kyoto, Gion District and local temples

Views were great. Expert guide knowledge and. Osamu was excellent and provided a great tour that was the highlight of our trip to Japan.

Fantastic tour with Osamu in Gion

We had a wonderful half-day tour of Gion with our guide, Osamu. His English was excellent, and he shared a wealth of knowledge about the history of the temples and neighborhoods we visited. He also gave us fascinating insights into the culture surrounding geishas, which made the experience even more enriching. Osamu expertly answered all of our many questions, not only about what we saw but also about Japan in general. His passion for the culture and history was evident, and his kindness and expertise made the tour truly memorable. We highly recommend Osamu for anyone looking to explore Kyoto’s Gion district. His deep knowledge and warm personality made our visit unforgettable!

Great tour with Kyoto. We especially enjoyed sharing a ramen lunch afterwards. A fair amount of walking but that’s a good way to beat jet lag.

Guide Takuma Goda was very personable, engaging & made the tour very enjoyable! Very well organized tour to walk uphill to visit the temple/shrine (learn interesting facts) then walk down the streets to Gion district ending at a perfect place of meditation. Also liked the small group. Overall just a great experience and I would highly recommend!
