What To Expect

1. Cascais After more than a century as a holiday resort, Cascais has a certain notoriety that more recent resorts lack. Its history is visible in the villas along the coast. The sheltered sandy bay was once a prehistoric fishing port.

2. Cabo da Roca Before moving towards Cabo da Roca, You may want take a stroll through the historical center of Sintra. This is a good time to rest, lunch and try out some traditional regional pastries. Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of Continental Europe, is yet another great spot to take some pictures and feel the sea breeze. 10 minutes

3. Park and National Palace of Pena We take-off from Lisbon in the morning heading directly to the UNESCO-listed Pena Palace. The 19th-century Romantic palace is a wonder to discover and one you will not soon forget. It is one of the best places to take pictures. It’s placed high on top of the mountain with a splendid view that stretches for miles, all the way to the Ocean. 1 hour 30 minutes

4. Centro Historico de Sintra We'll take a stroll through the historical center of Sintra. This is a good time to rest, lunch and try out some traditional regional pastries. You'll enjoy one hour of free time! 1 hour

5. Quinta da Regaleira The stunning Quinta da Regaleira is yet another UNESCO-listed site which has anciently carved buildings, incredible gardens and a gothic breeze that will enchant anyone who dares to enter. Full of history behind it, you will learn all about the caves, secret wells and art that originated from the Masonry, the Templars and the Rose Cross. 1 hour

6. Parque e Palacio de Monserrate This magnificent property is a jungle of exotic trees and flowering shrubs. Its’ history dates back to the time of the Moors, but it was named after a small 16th century chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Monteserrat, from Catalonia, Spain. 1 hour

7. Sintra National Palace In the heart of the village of Sintra, a pair of unusual conical chimneys rise above the Royal Palace. This Palace became the favourite summer retreat of the court and continued, as the residence of the Portuguese royalty, until the 1980s. The gradual reconstruction of the palace resulted in a fascinating amalgam of styles. 1 hour

Ricki is a very engaging guide. In fact he is one of the best tour guides we’ve ever had. He is both personable and very professional. We love that he took an interest in who we are and we feel like he tailored the experience just for us. Ricki gave us interesting local perspectives and we felt like we connected with Caiscas and Sintra. We had an amazing meal at a restaurant he referred. My husband and I are now highly considering the area as a second home! Thank you for the great experience!

Miguel was fabulous. He was very friendly, professional, knowledgeable and treated us great. The day was very educational, and he shared so much about the palace, cities, architecture, ect. Our entire group was really pleased with the day. If we evry get back to Portugal, we will be requesting Miguel.

One of the best days we’ve ever had on any trip. Sintra is a gorgeous place that is full of history. Our tour guide Nuno was a pleasure to spend the day with. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, and took great care of us. If you are going to do this tour, make sure it it with Nuno!
