Overview

Perfect for first-time visitors, this guided walking tour takes you to the major sites of central Lisbon. As you follow your local guide, you will get great insight into the city's history and culture. Experience old Lisbon by walking around the Moorish Alfama neighborhood (the city’s oldest quarter). Admire the Eden Theatre, Rossio Train Station and the cafes and boutiques of the elegant Chiado neighborhood. Numbers are limited to 14 people on this guided walking tour, ensuring you'll receive good attention from your guide.

Meeting points

Look for the guide with a blue badge and blue bag or black backpack Meet by the statue. It's a big square with 2 fountains on each side and in the center a high column with a man on the top. If you are on a square with a statue of a man on a horse, you are in the wrong square.

Itinerary

  • Estacao Do Rossio

One of the most impressive building on the historical center, the exterior was inspired by the 16th century Manueline architecture

  • Miradouro Chao do Loureiro

    Panoramic View

    5 minutes

  • Alfama

The oldest neighborhoods of Lisbon. Well known for Fado music and narrow streets

    20 minutes

  • Statue Of D. Jose I (Pass By)

Jose I , "The Reformer", was the King of Portugal from 31 July 1750 until his death. Among other activities, Joseph was devoted to hunting and the opera. Indeed, he assembled one of the greatest collections of operatic scores in Europe.

  • Praca do Comercio (Terreiro do Paco)

The Praça do Comércio - Commerce square is located in the city of Lisbon, Portugal. Situated near the Tagus river, the square is still commonly known as Terreiro do Paço because it was the location of the Paços da Ribeira (Royal Ribeira Palace) until it was destroyed by the great 1755 Lisbon earthquake. After the earthquake, the square was completely remodeled as part of the rebuilding of the Pombaline Downtown.

Has a history teacher I thoroughly enjoyed this walking tour through Lisbon. I learned so much because our guide, Pedro, was so knowledgeable and friendly. I also really enjoyed the pastry that we had midway through the tour. Overall, this was an excellent choice for some of my time in Lisbon

Fun & historical!

Published on Dec, 2024

We had a wonderful three hours with our guide Pedro, who was kind enough to step in as Martin, our assigned guide was sick. Pedro was extremely knowledgeable about Portuguese history and we learned so much. We did walk 11,000 steps but Pedro saved us by taking us up a few elevators and escalators. We got to see several parts of the city and get a feel for different neighborhoods and we also had cod cake and Verde wine, as well as delicious pastel de nata (famous egg custard tart). The value of this tour for your $ is incredible! We had already been in Lisbon two days & got so much out of this tour, even though we went back to a few places. This tour would be even more amazing on day one so that you can get an idea of what places you want to spend more time in, but it’s also wonderful as a standalone. My favorite part was stopping at incredible views high up in the city. I cannot recommend this tour enough!
