Overview

Take an exciting journey to the past and visit Évora, the capital of cork trees and world heritage site by UNESCO since 1986. Take a long walk on the irregular cobblestone through the charming and medieval streets of the historical centre inside the Vauban style ramparts built in the XVII century. Visit the grothesque chapel of bones, the Pre-historic monuments and the incredible Sé Cathedral, the most notable builing from the medieval period. Visit the most notable wine cellars of Adega da Cartuxa and taste the most rewoned wines of Alentejo. This is a service for small groups always accompannied by graduated and experienced guides.

The interior features a single nave. The barrel vault is covered with magnificent frescoes that include sacred and profane decorative elements. The side walls are lined with beautiful tile panels, attributed to the famous ceramist Gabriel del Barco. These panels represent biblical scenes. (No regular visiting hours)

Ruinas Fingidas

Located within a public park there is no information about these ruins on site. Apparently they are a folly, created with items saved from the demolition of the monasteries at the turn of the 20th century. Free to access and walk around they are well worth a few minutes, especially as the whole area is populated by peacocks.

The tour was wonderful and Pako was an incredible and engaging guide. Truly an amazing experience! I would highly recommend Pako if booking your tour! Book Your Adventure to Évora with Pedro Ferrador!

Évora was a destination on my list because I wanted to see the Chapel of Bones. My friends and I booked a tour with Pedro Ferrador, and we got the royal tour treatment in and around the city. The city was about an hour from where we were staying, but that was not a problem. Pedro picked us up and explained the landscape and various flora/fauna along the way. We got to see where storks nest! In Évora, the Chapel of Bones is just one of the beautiful historic places to visit - there are Roman ruins, beautiful cathedrals, and castles to explore. Évora also has some wonderful shopping opportunities, so don’t be shy with your wallet! We could not have seen as much as we did without Pedro. He has so much knowledge of the city and history of the area that it made the day all the more enjoyable. Pedro is also extremely fun and funny, so be prepared to laugh until your stomach hurts. Taking this tour with Pedro means you do not have to worry about what to see or experience next, and if you have time, you can stop at one of the wineries on the way back. A little vinho after our Évora adventure was a perfect way to end the day!

A little bit out of the way but worth the drive

Beautiful place to visit and worth the hour and a half drive. See the countryside and relax on the drive because it’s a great little town to walk around in. Fabulous winery stop and great views from the top. We had absolutely the best knowledgeable guides that were so fun we asked them to join us for lunch. They made the trip!
