  • Koyasan Daimon

    Enter the mystical gates of Daimon, towering 25 meters tall and cloaked in resplendent vermilion. Beyond these magnificent gates, the ancient shrine of Koyasan reveals its secrets, guarded by majestic wooden deities. Once a sanctuary for men alone, Koyasan now invites all spiritual seekers, male and female, to step into its timeless embrace. Here, the tapestry of history unfolds, and you embark on a journey that transcends time and space, shedding light on the veil of the past.

    Kongobuji, a testament to filial devotion, was first erected in 1593 by the illustrious Toyotomi Hideyoshi as a memorial to honor the passing of his beloved mother. Over time, this sacred structure harmoniously merged with a neighboring temple, transforming into the preeminent head temple of Shingon Buddhism. This venerable sect, introduced to the Japanese shores by the enlightened Kobo Daishi in 805, finds its spiritual epicenter on the hallowed ground of Koyasan.
