Book this tour to discover how J.K. Rowling’s life experience in Porto inspired parts of the Harry Potter story. It starts at Portugal’s most beautiful train station, to discover why train stations are so important for J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter, going to the most beautiful café the author ever wrote to find out about her own journey and inspirations and let’s not forget the world’s most beautiful bookshop, to unveil the spells behind magical numbers and connections. In this tour you will also hunt the Fantastic Beast of Porto, the Dragon, discover Porto’s heroes and villains and taste a sweet Portuguese Horcrux! This is an original and authorial tour, registered in the General Inspection of Cultural Activities, in which you will discover the Harry Potter saga relationship with the city but also Porto’s History through an unique perspective. Suitable for Potterheads and for those who barely know who the Boy Who Lived is. This tour experience has something for everyone, for all ages.

Meeting points

Beginning of the platforms 3 and 4, inside the train station of São Bento. Please note: it's the TRAIN STATION, not the SUBWAY STATION. The guide will be holding a wand.

    Portugal's most beautiful train station. An intro to the theme of the experience and the Hero's Journey Concept, a warm-up remembrance of the Harry Potter saga.

    The most beautiful café in Portugal. Entrance is conditioned to the size of the group and capacity of the café, beverages are not included. Guests will be presented to the journey of the author J.K. Rowling during her stay in Porto.

    Palácio Atlântico. Guests will discover the heroic journey of the Portuguese People and their Discoveries and also heroes of the city of Porto.

  • Avenida Dos Aliados

    The heart of the Porto, where the City Hall is located. Depending on the day and time, guests will be invited to see the inside of the City Hall. This is the book club stop of the tour experience and also when guests will discover the origin of the mythical Dragon of Porto and the War of the Two Brothers.

  • Jardim de Joao Chagas

    Courthouse. The stop to reflect about the relationship between the portuguese Dictator António de Oliveira Salazar and founder Salazar Slytherin.

  • Edificio da Reitoria da Universidade do Porto

    Rectorate of the University of Porto. Lord Voldemort had 7 horcruxes that nearly made him immortal. The Portuguese nation has 7 horcruxes that make the soul of the country immortal throughout the centuries and in this stop guests will discover them. There's also a Kahoot trivia to test their HP knowledge with a reward to the winner.

Great Harry Potter walking tour with Vinicius

Fun tour with Vinicius, regardless how great fan/expert you are of Harry Potter. The tour is very accessible and interactive. It has facts and spots that are not covered in standard Porto walking tours. It also includes a quiz, and ends near the Livraria Lello.

Even as a solidly middle aged man who never got into Potter (my kids are fans), I couldn’t have been happier with the tour. Vinny’s energy and enthusiasm were contagious, and he gave us a unique, fun, yet still informative introduction to the city without the overload of (usually forgettable) info that standard city tours come with. 10/10 highly recommend

Unforgettable magical- Vini the Wizard!

Vinicius the wizard! Vinicius has truly curated a wonderful experience to explore the beauty of Porto with a touch of Harry Potter. As you will learn through this tour, there are a lot of interesting links to Porto and the Harry Potter world from a historical//anecdotal level but also from a metaphorical level. I was amazed to find out the lengths of Vinis research on both the city and J.K Rowling world. Vini is a master storyteller, it really felt I met an old friend diving into seamless conversations that transcended both Porto and the Harry Potter world but also insightful discussions on culture, life and other aspects of history and society. I’ve never met such an engaging storyteller who can make you laugh with a witty joke, surprise you with an obscure fact or bring a lump to your throat when discussing matters of love, life and death. It was truly an unforgettable experience and I would recommend it to everyone, plus I guess I’ve never met anyone with such great Harry Potter IQ! The quiz was by far the hardest which he took at the end of the trip Keep your magic on, wizard Vini!
