Douro Valley Tour

I had a great time touring through the Douro Valley. We had a small group of 7 people. Everyone got along great. Jose was the highlight of the tour. He was an amazing guide. He showed some great sites that aren't normally on the tour, told dad jokes, gave a history lesson, and made the most of our time on the tour. The guides at the winery and boat tours were good as well. They explained everything about the wines, how they were aged, the history of the Douro Valley, and etc. It was a great experience! I would definitely recommend this tour!

Had a great time on a day trip to the Douro River Valley which included 2 wine tastings, lunch with endless wine, and a wonderful boat ride. The guides and drives were great.

Lovely trip to the Douro Valley. Transport, tastings and river cruise were all great and Milena was a friendly, informative and fun guide. As is often the case in this kind of tour the provided lunch wasn’t great (rather tasteless and clearly made to a limited budget) but this didn’t spoil a great day out. However for the sake of a couple of Euros less profit per person, there is scope to elevate the lunch to a much more satisfying level.

The best tour

We had a bit drama to join the tour in the morning. But even with that, I would still hight recommend this tour. The local tour company and tour guides are excellent, and the winery visited are all super. Here is the story . I got the tour information from Viator with an old meeting point address which is only a couple minutes away from our hotel. Thus we opt for walking there and meet on our own instead of being picked up. Then it turned out the local tour company(CM tour) had changed the meeting point a couple week ago already. Without knowing this, 4 of us are at the old meeting point and waiting. Then a guy stopped his van, and came to us to check if we are with CM tours. Told us the meeting point has changed, he was not our tour guide, but he works for the same company. He was just passing by and saw people waiting, so he stopped to check. Then he offered to take us to the right meeting point where a lots of other CM tour buses waiting for people. But unfortunately our tour guide had left since he could not get in contact with us, and our tour has more stops so that need to leave earlier than other tour buses. ( later I checked my phone, had 3 missing calls from our tour guide, my phone was accidentally in silent mode, thus missed his calls). The guys talk to other tour guides, and arranged us to piggy back on another CM tour bus also going to Douro Valley, and our tour guide would wait for us at the first bath break stop. So we caught up with our tour bus without missing anything. And our tour guide Ricardo and driver Moutinho are awesome. Ricardo is very fun and caring, a great story teller along the way, and constantly coming to back of the bus to check if everyone is all good. The 2 wineries visited are both on cliff top, has very narrow and winding roads, some part is one narrow lane for both directions. We are so glad that our driver Moutinho did an excellent job, so we can enjoy the view without worry about driving there. Especially the 2nd winery is almost at the highest point, the view is incredibly beautiful even on a cloudy day. The 2 wine tasting is awesome. Highly recommend this tour and the local tour company (CMtour)
