What a great way to start our time in Porto! We had the pleasure of joining the Porto FoodLover Tour with Flavia as our guide, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Flavia was friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about Porto's food culture, making our first evening in the city unforgettable.
The three-hour tour was the perfect way to immerse ourselves in authentic Portuguese cuisine. Our first stop was at a charming cheese shop, where the lovely owner invited us into her wine cellar. There, we enjoyed a delightful sampling of cheeses, cured meats, and wines—a fantastic way to start the evening.
Next, we visited a local microbrewery where we sampled their seasonal creations paired with Francesinha, Porto’s famous hearty sandwich. Everything was delicious and expertly prepared.
Our third stop was at a cozy pub, where we were treated to a beautifully presented tray of canned sardines, mackerel, and cheeses, served alongside a glass of refreshing Vinho Verde. To our surprise, we found ourselves loving the canned fish—a testament to its high quality and preparation.
The final stop was a unique and vibrant restaurant/club frequented by locals. When we first arrived, the place was quiet, but Flavia led us downstairs to a lively space with a pool table, music, and a fun atmosphere. By the time we returned upstairs around 9 PM, the restaurant was bustling with people, adding to the authentic experience.
This tour was everything we hoped for and more—a genuine taste of Porto’s culinary scene, guided by the delightful Flavia. If you’re looking for an immersive and delicious introduction to Porto, don’t miss this tour!
