Overview

Chacchoben Mayan Ruins is the most popular and visited attraction for a day in Costa Maya. It is approximately 50 minutes drive from Costa Maya Port. This site is just a few kilometers from the village of Chacchoben from which it's name derive. The translation of the Mayan word "Chacchoben" refers to "The Place Of The Red Corn". The structures at this site are characterized by large temples and massive platforms dated from 700 AD.

    Se parte de esta gran experiencia, disfruta y aprende un poco mas de las grandes civilizaciones que la humanidad a conocido "Los Mayas". Desde tu llegada al puerto Costa Maya te veras envuelto en la selva milenaria aquella que guarda los secretos de esta civilizaciĆ³n, la hermosa ciudad llamada "Chacchoben", dĆ©jate embrujar por las maravillosas construcciones, visita descubre y aprende acerca de esto viendo a los habitantes actuales de la zona arqueolĆ³gica los monos araƱas, los cereques, etc. Deslumbrante con las maravillosas selvas, siempre verdes, un clima tropical y los mosquitos que nunca faltan recibiendo con animo a los nuevos visitantes. Cuando estĆ©s de ida o de regreso de esta mĆ”gica ciudad de Chacchoben puedes disfrutar de las frutas de temporada de la zona local, con un poco de chile piquin encima que venden en los puestos a un lado del camino en el poblado llamado "Pedro Antonio de los Santos".

Este lugar que cobra vida cuando los cruceros arriban al puerto Costa Maya. Mahahual es de los mejores destinos de todo el Caribe Mexicano para practicar snorkel y buceo, ya que frente a sus costas se encuentra el arrecife Mesoamericano, que es la segunda barrera de coral mas larga del mundo. Las playas de Mahahual son de las mas extensas en el Caribe Mexicano, con interminables kilĆ³metros de blanca arena, palmeras y un mar de tono azul turquesa con oleaje casi imperceptible por el arrecife llamado "banco chinchorro" que actĆŗa como rompeolas. Sus aguas cĆ”lidas, son una invitaciĆ³n a pasearse todo el dĆ­a nadando, recorrer el boulevard que esta lleno de tiendas para comprar souvenirs o simplemente relajarte y disfrutar los masajes frente al mar y probar los autĆ©nticos platillos de la gastronomĆ­a mexicana.

Highly recommend Carlos and Francisco

Carlos, our amazing tour guide, gave a most interactive and sensorial guided tour complete with pictures, plants, species and archeology on both the ride there and our hike around the incredible ruins made it one to be forever remembered. Francisco, our van driver was friendly and accommodated by driving us to the beach for an hour for delicious lunch to cap it all off. Highly recommend this team at Toucan Tours!

Our tour guide Elios was the absolute BEST! The tour was amazing and very informational. The one down side, was due to time restraints from other passengers, we did not get to have the lunch that was included because they had to get back to the port for their departure. I did not feel like this was fair due to the fact that we paid for it and it was to be included. My group had more than enough time.

I truly enjoyed this tour. I hope to return to have time to experience the beach as well. The drive was long but comfortable. The tour guide was very funny and knowledgeable.

Amazing vacation and tour experience. Carlos was our guide and he was so great! He was very knowledgeable and we had a great time. This was very easy to find the company to get transported to the ruins, and they had plenty of water for us!
