During this tour of the Mayan city of Chacchoben, you will get to know the ancient residences of the nobles, the ancient ceremonial centers, walk through the jungle and admire the architecture of this great civilization while a certified guide explains in detail the history and secrets of this ancient city. Relive the passage of the Mayan priests and Mayan chiefs walking the steps to the top of the piramids and let yourself be impressed by the immensity of the jungle from above. During your adventure, you will also learn about local plants, observe endemic birds, a large population of spider monkeys and listen to the legends that gave origin to this city. Rosie was a great guide, very knowledgeable and always looking for ways to avoid the crowds. She carried extra cold water and took care of getting rid of our empty bottles. Definitely bring and use bug spray! Lots of mosquitoes and biting bugs.

Our group of 6 arrived at the meeting location and got signed in. We departed on time in a comfortable and new van that seated about 15. Our guide (Lorenzo) spoke excellent English. The ruins are an hour ride from Costa Maya so we walked the site for about two hours with Lorenzo leading the way. The Chocchoben ruins are a mix of excavated and unexcavated structures. It is interesting to see the unexcavated areas to know what these places looked like when they were rediscovered. We were back at the pickup point on time.
