We booked this tour directly on the Wandering Owl website. When we arrived at the pick-up point, our guide Thomas invited us into the minivan (eight people), after giving us some useful information.
We were immediately put at ease, seeing that Thomas is passionate about his activity around the northern lights. He made sure to involve the whole group while he gave us explanations on the formation of the auroras, and on the region during the hour of driving to the observation spot he had selected.
When we arrived at the site, we did not wait long before being astonished by the awesome show that was coming: intense activity for two hours with auroras producing green and red tones (quite rare). An explosion around and above us! Even Thomas was amazed by the show!
After the “Great Aurora Showâ€, we stayed another two hours to chat around a campfire, tasting the hot soup prepared for us. The group of eight people was very communicative and varied (coming from the U.S., U.K. France) and each participant, encouraged by Thomas, spoke about their personal experiences freely without any apprehension.
I think we were really lucky with a clear sky, the right location, and intense activity of the auroras. I really want to congratulate Wandering Owl for the seriousness of the organization, the warm welcome of the participants and their wish to limit the ecological impact of the excursions (food prepared locally, no trace left after the campfire).
A big thank you to Thomas who was really great, and exciting to listen to and follow in this beautiful experience.
