Overview

Shinjuku Bar Hopping. You had a long day and want to get the most out of your night. You want some booze but you also want some more. Shinjuku is a city of many facets, having the shopping, business, entertainment, and LGBT/red light districts each having different communities with a unique historical and cultural background. In this evening/night tour, we will explore what Shinjuku has to offer, learn the roles shrines have in the Shinjuku area, examine the largest red light district kabukicho and what it has to offer, and experience the basics of Japanese cuisine; sake, shochu and sours, using the Izakayas drinking/eating places that we will visit in this tour. Our goal is to pack as much as we can in the limited time you have - from old to new. You will need to walk the streets with a seasoned certified guide, not young inexperienced guides. Again, 3 to 4 hours may not be enough - talk to the guide and extend if needed.

    PISS ALLEY. You will roam the streets of a eating place that catered to the black market that emerged after WW2

  • Shinjuku 3 Chome

    You will see the three dimensional advertisement and several Japanese foodie spots available in the MOA district

  • Kabukicho

    ICONIC KABUKICHO. You will be entering the kabukicho district by passing thru the iconic kabukicho gates, seeing Godzilla and the theatre area. You will be seeing Godzilla and other iconic figures in the Kabukicho area with the experienced guide.

  • Kabukicho

    SUSHI DINNER!! In a fine Japanese eatery, you will have your FIRST DINNER; SUSHI. You will choose from Modern EDO SUSHI or the SUSHI of the past. If you are a vegan, you will given a vegan set. This will be your “first” dinner together with one drink that will accompany that dinner.

    THE DARK SIDE OF KABUKICHO. We will commit to exploring the deep and darker side of the kabukicho district - yakuza land - a walk through shady parts of Kabukicho central and the observe the lust associated to it.

    EITHER JAPANESE SAKE TASTING EXPERIENCE. We will explore the four tastes of sake at a DIY sake bar. You will have a view and be tasting and comparing the diverse tastes to your Pallette

    EITHER A COOL BAR IN the GOLDEN GAI. Getting reservations in the golden fai is difficult. We will drop by a bar hopping space and learn the historical aspect of this area and learn how this became to be. Whiskey, beer and soft drinks will be available.

  • Suehirotei

    BACK TO YOUR HOTELS OR MORE. We will either take you to a taxi space, the subway in Shinjuku3 or the JR SHINJUKU station so that you will not get lost in the abyss, Shinjuku station. We can visit the ENTERTAINMENT AREA where we have the Japanese standup comedy or the LGBT area before we drop the group off. This will be optional and tips will be expected.

Informative and delicious time; a genuine deep dive of the Shinjuku kabukicho area

We did this tour back to back with the Akihabara tour of the same company, which was very nice and memorable and we were looking forward to this night tour and yes, we were pleasantly surprised; it was way beyond expectations. Max, our guide took us to a small izakaya and gave us the do’s and don’t do’s in an izakaya table setting. He took us thru the history of Shinjuku and how kabukicho came to be. He explained how media played a role in unifying Japan to build a power force it is now today. The kabukicho sushi place was clean, new and entertaining. The dark streets of Kabukicho was similar to the days gone by as if we had been eclipsed in time. The whisky bar was simply amazing. Max said he knew a number of bars and is choosing which bar to go by profiling the guests. Mmm, very good. I feel I had been profiled well.

Would recommend to people who want to see the unfiltered Tokyo and get to know more for your other parts of trip in Japan. The organizers are real professional hospitality services.
