We did this tour back to back with the Akihabara tour of the same company, which was very nice and memorable and we were looking forward to this night tour and yes, we were pleasantly surprised; it was way beyond expectations. Max, our guide took us to a small izakaya and gave us the do’s and don’t do’s in an izakaya table setting. He took us thru the history of Shinjuku and how kabukicho came to be. He explained how media played a role in unifying Japan to build a power force it is now today. The kabukicho sushi place was clean, new and entertaining. The dark streets of Kabukicho was similar to the days gone by as if we had been eclipsed in time. The whisky bar was simply amazing. Max said he knew a number of bars and is choosing which bar to go by profiling the guests. Mmm, very good. I feel I had been profiled well.

Was a great introduction to the overwhelming Shinjyuku. We were able to quickly get hold of the different aspects of interests of Shinjyuku, while the detailed background stories made it all the way more fascinating; it was real local stuff that you only get to see with a real local. Would recommend to people who want to see the unfiltered Tokyo and get to know more for your other parts of trip in Japan. The organizers are real professional hospitality services.

Was a great introduction to the overwhelming Shinjyuku. We were able to quickly get hold of the different aspects of interests of Shinjyuku, while the detailed background stories made it all the way more fascinating; it was real local stuff that you only get to see with a real local. The title was bar hopping. We expected a western style bar hopping tour with some Japanese taste but it was more of a food and drinking tour. You get a full stomach of the all sorts of foods and you get to savor a variety of Japanese drinks. On top of that, the tour of Shinjuku and Kabukicho was way beyond expectations. Max said he was going to take dirty and at first we didn’t know what that meant but as we walked the streets of Kabukicho under his guidance we finally understood. Way deeper than expected; a deep dive into culture, business, history, entertainment and food in such a short period of time. A great tour run by an exceptional guide.
