Enjoy classic Japanese experience at our selected restaurants. Local food & drinks as we journey through Tokyo’s busiest area in Shinjuku. - 7+ mouth-watering Japanese food tastings, enough for a full dinner meal, served from three selected restaurants. - Drinks to taste great Izakaya style dinner. You may also choose your drinks (Beer, Sake & other drinks). Non-alcoholic beverages are also available. - Explore Shinjuku visiting famous must-see spots as well as hidden gems. Enjoy unique views of Tokyo’s neon town, Kabukicho. It requires 1~2km of walking. Please let us know if you have any food restrictions at least a week before the tour date. We cannot accommodate last minute food requests. Vegetarian and gluten free options are limited.

Much more than a food tour.

Tadashi out guide made this tour so interesting and enjoyable. Being a chef, his knowledge of local cuisine was excellent. The venues chosen provided a great variety of delicious food and serves were generous. Tadashi also gave us insights into local culture and traditions. He had a great sense of humour and made it such a fun experience. I’d do it again.

Fantastic food tour in Tokyo!!

We had no idea what to expect from this food tour (5/18), but it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. From the very beginning, Joe was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and entertaining. We visited four different restaurants, each offering a variety of delicious dishes. Joe took care of all the ordering, choosing the best items on the menu, and even showed us how to properly flavor and enjoy each dish. We got to try so many foods we never would have thought to order on our own, it was a truly eye-opening culinary experience. Along the way, Joe also shared fascinating insights into Japanese culture and guided us through the vibrant and colorful streets of Shinjuku, pointing out what makes the area so unique and special. To top it all off, Joe gave us fantastic recommendations for food and attractions to check out during the rest of our time in Japan. We honestly can’t say enough good things about this tour. Thank you, Hawaii Joe, for an unforgettable evening!

Must do tour in Tokyo!

We did the 5/18 Shinjuku Izakaya Food Tour with Hawaii Joe on our first night in Tokyo. Not only was this the perfect intro to the city and food scene with all of Joe’s knowledge and instructions on how to order and eat, but each thing we tried was unbelievably delicious. Joe gave recommendations on drink pairings and told us how to eat each item to maximize enjoyment. While walking to each spot, he gave us great information on the area and we even got to walk down some streets to see a different side of Tokyo we probably would not have done on our own. By the end of the tour we were stuffed, delightfully buzzed and excited for the days to come armed with all of Joe’s tips and recommendations. Thanks again Joe, mahalo!

My husband and I both agree that our food tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan! Our guide, Tadashi, felt more like a friend showing us around than a “tour guide”. He is so personable and fun! We learned so much about the food and neighborhood from him. We also felt like we got really lucky with the group of people on our tour because everyone got along really well. In addition to the tour, Tadashi gave us some awesome restaurant recommendations that really made our trip to Tokyo memorable :)
