Overview

Hop aboard a comfortable bus from Puerto Plata to Punta Rusia and enjoy this comprehensive day trip. A picturesque fishing village on the north coast. From there, board a speedboat through the mangrove forest to Paradise Island (also known as Cayo Arena). Go ashore to sunbathe and explore. You can even put on a snorkel and see the tropical fish and corals. When you get hungry, stop for a buffet lunch and open bar before heading back to your accommodation. The remaining 2 hours on the itinerary is for roundtrip transportation.

Punta Rucia is the main starting point to go to Cayo Arena, thousands of visitors go daily to reach the key and snorkel in the great coral reef near the coast. Punta Rucia itself is a delightfully quiet beach to enjoy, lined with a small selection of restaurants and bars. Nearby you will find a calm and protected lagoon lined with mangroves, ideal for bird watching.

This sandbar sits in the middle of the brilliant blue ocean, with powdery white sand and shallow water teeming with tropical fish and ideal for Snorkel. Sheltered by a coral reef, these waters are home to a wide variety of marine life, which your snorkel guide can help you point out.
