We do not have time slots. We leave the port 45 minutes after your ship docks. Please disembark as quickly as possible and be at the pick-up location no more than 45 minutes after your ship docks. We can pick you up in: Amber Cove, Taino Bay, and within the Puerto ... Plata city, ours service included all hotel of the zone. Amber Cove: the pick up will be outside of the port, after the principal gate, left side of the avenue. About 10 to 12 minutes walk. Fifi Jewelry And Cigar Store

Fifi Jewelry Amber Museum is one of the most visited places in Puerto Plata. Inside, it hosts one of the biggest resin exhibitions in the Dominican Republic. The country has the most important amber deposits in the world; moreover, blue, green or warm honey colours are unique from this area due to its volcanic activity. Here, you can discover the history of this vegetal-origin precious stone. One of the most important stones of this museum is a 40cm lizard conserved inside a piece of amber. This resin can hold prehistoric fossils of plants and little animals on its inside due to its sticky nature, that turns this stone in subject of study. It is said that Steven Spielberg was inspired by this museum when he was working on his famous film Jurassic Park.

Del Oro Chocolate Factory is a great place to visit in Puerto Plata. The factory produces organic Dominican cocoa chocolate and is a great place to satisfy your sweet tooth. As you taste the various chocolates, you will also discover how the different machines are used to make the chocolate. The Del Oro Chocolate Factory Tour begins with a short film about the chocolate-making process, followed by a chocolate tasting at the end of the tour. There is a shop where you can buy a variety of chocolates to take home.

We visited on a cruise. Once ship was docked we got off and walked through the gates of the amber cove port. We did have to ask for directions to the highway but once we were in the correct direction, we followed the walk way to the main gates and found Samuel easy. (Was holding sign). Samuel and Edwin were great tour guides. They are very friendly and knowledgeable. It is not a private tour but the others we were with were friendly and we were all one happy family. I would recommend this excursion to any who visit the area.

This was an awesome day that exceeded our entire families expectations. We had a last minute port change due to a hurricane and so I went online looking for a fun way to make lemonade out of lemons. We loved all of the stops on our city tour, our guide, and beautiful Puerto Plata. None of us had been there before and we are so happy that the universe brought us there (if only for a day). All 7 of us would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to know more about this beautiful city and country while enjoying its authenticity.
