Macorix House of Rum is a historical museum of the Ron Family Macorix was born in 1899 by the Carrión family from the town of San Pedro de Macorís, a place considered by many to be the land of poets, artists and sugar cane. 110 years later, Ron Macorix became part of the Vinícola del Norte family of the port city of Puerto Plata, uniting two emblematic rum-producing towns in the Dominican Republic.

Ueury took me around to the highlights of Puerto Plata. He has lived here all of his life and has a good local perspective. If you have interest in DR Baseball ask him. He knows about all of the legends and the current kids who are about to make their mark in the MLB. Even though I usually shy away from tours that to sell you something at the end I thought the Rum Tour and its seven tastings was good even if you don’t want to buy anything. At the end our tour I asked Yeury if he could take me to a local place for lunch. I believe I was the only tourist in the busy lunch diner. It wasn’t fancy but if you are trying to see the local vibe it was a great choice. Thanks to this small company for giving a taste of life in the DR.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND !!!!!!. Do not waste your time or money on a cruise excursion as this is a perfect small group tour that takes you to all the high lites with a friendly tour guide that offers information and answers all your questions.

Gasper was amazing!! We ended up with a private tour. Gasper picked us up at the port in a van equipped with AC & WiFi. He was very nice and knowledgeable about the area. He made it very personal and this was highlight of trip. Thank you Gasper and team!!

Excellent tour! Highly recommend. Yeury was our tour guide and he was kind, informative, and an overall excellent tour guide. Visited every stop as was advertised (Marcelo, chocolate factory, amber museum, etc.) Had a lot of fun learning about Puerto Plata history. A MUST DO tour when in Puerto Plata!! Se lo recomiendo a todos.
