Overview

Eat and shop like a Japanese local and immerse yourself in this food-themed trip inside both of Tokyo’s two famous fish markets, Toyosu and Tsukiji. Quite possibly the best places to get a sense of Japanese culinary culture! Meet up with your guide at your hotel or Toyosu Market where you will experience the energy and excitement of the early morning tuna auction. With all this walking, you learn about the market’s history and why many of Japan’s top chefs visit daily to pick up the freshest-quality ingredients. After the tour, you can stay in the market to enjoy the rest of your breakfast or lunch at your leisure. Note*1: The tuna auction is viewed from a public space on the third floor. We ask that your be aware that Toyosu is a place of business. To keep fish sanitary for consumption, you cannot enter the main auction floor. The tuna auction length varies daily due.

Highly recommend Goreilo San

Fantastic experience with Goreilo San at the tuna auction. Goreilo San reached out a few days ahead to make sure our meeting coordination was confirmed. The day of the tour, we started at the auction house. He provided a lot of valuable information and brought a photo binder explaining at a lot about tunas (prices, provenance, types, etc…). Once the auction was over, we visited the wholesale area where you can purchase fish to eat right away. We finished our tour at the food market nearby by eating fresh and delicious uni, tuna, scallops, grilled crab legs and shrimps. I’d highly recommend Goreilo San for a tour. He was extremely knowledgeable and dedicated to the experience he offers. The market without a guide isn’t the same experience. He was able to answer all our questions and made the tour a lot more fun and educational.

Yoshi was prompt, knowledgeable and very friendly. He picked us up from our hotel and on the short taxi ride to the market had papers prepared to explain the history of Japan and the market. On the ride he also pointed out key landmarks. Our timing was perfect as we were able to see the peak auction activities as well as walk through the intermediate market when it wasn’t too busy. He consistently offered to take group photos in the best locations. We took a short bus ride to Tsukiji market and Yoshi stayed an hour extra with us, leading us through the market, helping us buy items and showing us a small Shinto shrine. I highly recommend this tour!

Excellent your and Katsu "Goreilo" was a great guide. Very knowledgeable and efficiently took us around to see all the key spots in a 3 hour window. Highly recommended.

What an experience! The tuna auction was so interesting. My husband and I are big foodies, and are always curious to know where our food comes from. On this tour we learned so much from our guide, things we wouldn’t have been able to learn if we didn’t have our guide Goreilo. His local knowledge allowed us to ask any question, and he knew all the answers. Goreilo was very easy going, accommodating to our desired experience and was able to show us the food market once we were done the auction tour. Highly recommend this tour, worth every penny.

Hiroshi did an amazing job! We had a great spot to view the tuna auction and really enjoyed the tour of the different markets. Such a unique Tokyo experience.
