We loved our tour with Kazu. We have visited Tokyo several times and have always wanted to see the Tuna auction. We are delighted we did it with a guide and highly recommend all first-time visitors do so. Toyosu market is enormous. Knowing where to go and where to look is essential, especially since the action part of the auction is so fast. We appreciated taking the Yurikamome line between Toyosu and Tsukiji. While it may be slower than the bus (the route that Google shows, it's way more scenic. Kazu had excellent tips throughout the whole journey. For example, in the Yurikamome line car, he recommended that we go to the front of the first car for the best view. He was not wrong! A fun fact is that we visited the Tsukiji retail market several times before, but we never actually went into the critical part of the market! It's not apparent that these buildings even do, but the crowded, busy part of the Tsukiji is not the crucial part of it! We would have never found that out without a guide. Kazu was also fun - we made jokes the entire time, and it felt like a tour with a friend. One tip - if you are arriving from far away, do this tour on one of your first days while you are jet lagged and wake up early naturally. It's much easier to wake up at 4:30 or so that way. We highly recommend taking this tour and our guide, Kazu.
