Overview

200 years after coming back from Jerusalem, the Knights Templar could only be safe in Portugal and Scotland. Powerful institutions turned against them. Having to escape persecutions, they look for the safe land to start over, the prototype of a country they had created 200 years before.     Any relation with the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem is not a coincidence. Plus the ground floor is not only used for pray, also serves as a gateway for templar’s treasures. This is the pantheon of templar’s grand masters as they rest buried inside the temple walls.

    Founded by templar’s this is the most important headquarters of the order in Western Europe. Why? Because, like no other, in this one, the knights created for the first time ever, the structure for the biggest commercial enterprise the world has ever seen. From this point on they would give birth to new secret organizations that still exist today, defining the goals for our everyday economy and political systems.

    Castles in the water where unique stronghold points, or fortresses, against the Arabs or moors attacks. It was the time of the crusades, and decisive to protect the center north of Portugal, due to exist in it representations of holy grounds, like Jerusalem or Nazareth.

EXCELLENT! Knights Templar

Nuno picked us up at our hotel in Fatima for a full day tour of Tomar and vicinity, explaining the Knights Templar. We enjoyed spending the day with a local and his extensive knowledge of the region. Nuno was an excellent guide with helpful communication before and after the trip.
