Overview

This hugely popular bus tour includes special entry to the advance-reservation-only Ghibli Museum. The museum features a plethora of exhibits introducing animation and production processes as well as a small theatre where a Studio Ghibli’s original short animated film is screened. All tour participants will receive a Ghibli Museum teacup on board the tour vehicle. Feel free to bring it home as a souvenir. During the tour, Visit Hotel Gajoen Tokyo, the lunch venue. This spectacular historical building is said to have inspired an important structure in a Studio Ghibli film. Enjoy the atmosphere and savor a buffet featuring the hotel's prized cuisine. At Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum, walk down streets lined with colorful and intriguing buildings which evoke an atmosphere just like in the Studio Ghibli film, "Spirited Away." What To Expect

1. Hotel Gajoen Tokyo Take a commemorative photo and enjoy a buffet lunch at a spectacular, historical hotel said to be the inspiration for a famous Ghibli film. 1 hour 30 minutes

2. Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum The Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum is an outdoor museum featuring historical structures with high cultural significance which have been moved to the museum from their original sites, recreated and preserved for exhibit. Walk down streets lined with colorful and intriguing buildings which evoke an atmosphere just like in the Studio Ghibli film, "Spirited Away." Instead of the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum, the tour may visit Jindai-ji Temple or Takahata Fudoson Temple. 1 hour 15 minutes

3. Ghibli Museum Mitaka Enjoy freely walking around inside. The museum features a plethora of exhibits introducing animation and production processes, a reading room, as well as a Ghibli original short animated feature viewable only at the museum. A Studio Ghibli original teacup will be handed out on board the tour vehicle. After arriving at Ghibli Museum, participants will have time to walk freely through the museum once entrance procedures are finished. 2 hours 30 minutes

If the tour cannot visit Hotel Gajoen Tokyo or Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum due to facility circumstances, an alternate destination will be visited and the tour will still be held. (Instead of the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum, the tour may visit Jindai-ji Temple or Takahata Fudoson Temple.) Refunds will not be issued in case of this itinerary change. Thank you for your understanding.
Participants may not go directly to the destination on their own, and may not join the tour midway. Leaving the tour midway at Ghibli Museum is allowed. In such cases, customers must head to their next destination on their own from Ghibli Museum, and no refunds will be provided.
Arrival times may be delayed by traffic conditions.
The National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter does not provide guidance inside Ghibli Museum. After arriving at Ghibli Museum, participants will have time to walk freely through the museum once entrance procedures are finished.
The meal is served buffet style. Vegetarian meals and allergy-friendly meals are not accepted. At the restaurant, each dish will have a label displaying the dish name and icons of ingredients referring to any of 8 food allergens used in the dish. On the day, customers themselves must check the ingredients before taking food.

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.

Beautiful tour learned a lot.

My son and I chose this tour because it was more than just the Ghibli museum. You get to see a beautiful hotel and open air architecture museum and enjoy lunch. Our tour guide Miki was great. If there was one downfall it was the lunch option, if you are vegetarian the only thing for you is a green salad and then you have to be careful that the toppings don't have pork. There was corn pizza with bacon, corn salad with ham, macaroni and cheese that had beef in it.

So worth it!! Michiko was so much fun, very prepared and intelligent, and very organized! Lunch was great, and all the spots are well worth it.

Very friendly staff and the original plan was carried out on time. We had 2 and a half hours to Explore the museum and that was a blast! Really enjoyed It! I came back to my hotel on my own with the train.

Completely worth it for folks who couldn't get Ghibli tickets

We're all here because we failed to get Ghibli tickets and this seems like the next best thing. I was even a little resentful when I booked: I have to go to another museum and a lunch just to see the thing I want?? I was wrong. The hotel was gorgeous, and the Edo-Tokyo Architecture Museum was so cool and interesting I could've spent three times longer there. Taking a tour bus out to Mitaka was so much more convenient than figuring it out myself. And Michiko, our guide, was knowledgeable and fun. She gave us the information we needed while on the bus, then let us explore ourselves. This tour was completely worth it. I'm glad I failed to get Ghibli tickets and did this instead.
