Excellent experience but with a caveat!
Been on this tour 2x in the past 2 years.
Would definitely say, first and foremost, everyone should experience the snowmobile adventure at least once if you haven't tried it!
The first time I went in 01/2024, I was with the Wilderness Adventure 2-hour tour with tour guide Mac and she was amazing. I was on the tour with a couple from Europe. The trip was on a sunny day, amazing weather and temperature. We were so efficient, probably averaged 30km/h on the trails, covered so much ground, and then ended up stopping at a lodge to get some bratwurst with hot apple cider. Mac was such an amazing photographer and we had a great time getting awesome photos to document the trip. It was efficient, exhilarating, fun, and we had photos to prove it!
This year, in 02/2025, I went again with my friend, because he hasn't been on a snowmobile trip. I took him to the 2 hour wilderness adventure with tour guide Sophie (who was fantastic by the way), because I had the expectations of "amazingness" from the 2024 experience. However, this wasn't the case. We had a "pseudo-influencer" on the tour who took over 15 minutes to get into her outfit on our "brief" stop to take photos, and she was posing like no other, taking up valuable trail time for the wilderness experience. This was when I realized that this tour can be really variable. Plus, we didn't get the hot cider and bratwurst pit stop...which I'm not sure why.
Anyway, after getting back to the lodge this time, I spoke with the owner and explained to him that the experience was very suboptimal, little trail coverage and did not get much of what I had experience and expected to show to my friend on his first snowmobile trip. The manager/boss was very gracious and sent us out with one of his other tour guides for a "make-up" trail run for 20min, and so we had a chance to go fast, and on some fun/more advanced trails for the real experience. Overall, I felt that we got the experience I wanted to show my friend.
From this experience, I also learned that if we want a more tailored tour experience, the best option would be to get the Private Tour, with your own tour guide for your group, that way you can have the experience that you want. You can take more photos if you want or go farther and faster and get more sites/viewpoints. The private tour is not that much more per person and i believe would be able to guarantee the right experience to fit your needs!
Before I end this review, I just want to say that both Mac and Sophie were great. I believe that the experiences were so different because of the group we went with.
So lesson of the day, if possible, do a Private Tour, otherwise you should be "ok" with potentially getting a suboptimal experience with people who are not on the trip with the same goals as you.
