Ginza is a fancy, upmarket shopping district and it won’t let you forget it. You’re far more likely to find internationally-recognized luxury brand clothes and accessories here than a charming Mom-and-Pop shop or hip independent coffee store. Originally, it was part of the downtown area of Edo (olden days Tokyo), and still has a bit of that old school charm. But the area was always somewhat posh. It was named after a silver mint that used to be there after all.

Clear filterWonderful day with John, our tour guide.

John, our tour guide for the day was just excellent. He was not only most knowledgeable about Tokyo and its history he was most patient with our many many questions. He took us to many interesting sites and patiently waited while we even did some exploring on our own. We mentioned what we would like to do on the following day and he made sure we knew where and when to go, which subway lines to use etc. Not only that, he was a most affable host and we had a lot of laughs throughout the day. Couldn’t recommend him highly enough. Thanks so much, Ted and Susan Broom

Wonderful way to experience Tokyo

This was our first trip to Japan, and our guide, Koda, made it incredibly easy for us to explore the sights we wanted at our own pace. Since it was our first time in Japan, we really appreciated Koda’s professionalism, which made the experience stress-free. We highly recommend Koda as a private driver and guide-it’s a wonderful way to experience Tokyo. If you have the opportunity, be sure to request Koda.

Going to the Tokyo Sky Tree and the Shrine. The ride through Tokyo gave one a good idea of the city.

Shoru was such an amazing chauffeur and guide. We were able to converse in English which helps. We sent him our itinerary and he tried his best to schedule and fit everything in. He even managed to squeeze in an impromptu Roppongi Xmas Illumination which was so magical. It was the best experience to visit Tokyo and see the sights on a tight schedule.
