Overview

This tour will give guests the opportunity to experience much of the traditional and iconic culture associated with Japan and Tokyo. You will have the opportunity to see Sumo Wrestlers train, try the freshest and best Sushi and street food in Tokyo, walk through a traditional Japanese garden and visit a tea house, walk around an historic Buddhist temple complex and park, and finally pay a visit to one of Tokyoā€™s most famous observation decks ā€“ Tokyo Tower. The tour will provide guests with a well balanced itinerary including a Sumo Beya, food and drink, gardens and parks, shrines and temples, and iconic architecture.

The tour will begin at 08:15am inside of Hamacho train station where you will meet your tour guide. Follow the signs for exits A1 and A2 from the platform and go up the stairs. Come out of the ticket gates. Directly in front of you will be a green vending machine that says ā€™Merciā€™.

The tour will conclude at nearby Akabanebashi station. Your guide will happily assist you with any queries on transport back to your hotel or next destination.

Itinerary

  • Arashio Beya

    Your first destination will be a traditional Sumo Beya (Training Room) where you will have the exciting opportunity to watch Sumo train! Please note that this is real training and the Sumo cannot be disturbed. Therefore visitors can only watch from outside through the large viewing windows. You cannot enter the Sumo Beya. Depending on the Sumoā€™s schedule after training, they sometimes come outside for photo opportunities with the visitors.

  • Tsukiji Fish Market

    Your next destination will be Tsukiji Outer Market where you will have a guided tour and enjoy sampling the many foods on offer. You can also enjoy free time here to explore at your pace, take pictures and shop!

  • Hama Rikyu Gardens

    Here you will have a guided introduction to the garden and its history. You can then enjoy some free time before we meet back up to have a traditional tea and sweet experience in a beautiful tea house at the garden.

  • Zojo-ji Temple

    Your guide will give you a tour of the temple and its history. The tour also includes a Sutra copying experience at the temple. Whether youā€™re spiritual or not, this experience provides you a moment of peace and calm where you will copy your sutra inside the temple, and can enjoy the smell of incense burning.

    Here you will enjoy taking in the sights of Tokyo and the retro feel of the Tower's architecture.

Tokyo Highlights tour with Beth

Our host, Beth, surpassed our expectations. Beth catered to our preferences all day, was alot of fun and spoke clearly. She also took us to the 3D cat video. We highly recommend this tour with Beth.

The tour was excellent highlighting many interesting and fun places. The tour guide was knowledgeable and very well informed, also very helpful and attentive to my needs. A delight to go on the tour with her, she made a big difference in my experience and understanding of Japan. Would do this again in a heartbeat

Highlights of our tour of Tokyo

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the highlights of Tokyo with our guide, Beth. Beth was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the various sites we visited. We enjoyed participating in the Tea House experience, visiting the Shrines and of course, riding up to the top of the Tokyo Tower to experience an all impressive view of Tokyo city. But two other experiences, were extra exciting: The Sumo wrestling experience was mesmerising and we loved it, and visiting the local food market where we tasted a variety of yummy food, purchased some local goods to take home to enjoy, was a very enjoyable, relaxed and happy exercise. Beth was very helpful and assisted us with a few personal errands such as posting postcards home and walking us to our hotel door! We really appreciated everything you did to accomodate our needs-Thanks Beth.
