Overview

This is the most complete small group tour for up 8 people and we visit the interior of monuments that others don't see, and all tickets are included. Arriving in Braga, we will start by visiting the Bom Jesus Sanctuary and contemplating its magnificent staircase to the top of the church. After a top view of the city, time to visit the oldest cathedral in the country where we will have exclusive access to the chapels and high choir of the monument. A delicious traditional Portuguese lunch will be served in a restaurant where you can taste the so famous "Vinho Verde". During the afternoon we visit Guimarães when we have time for a calm walk on foot through the medieval city where we will enter in his Castle that was known for the birth of a new kingdom: Portugal. Then we will visit the Palace of the Dukes where we are dazzled by the luxuries of royalty from other times. A whole history of Portugal will be told by our local guides who have always followed the group.

    We start our tour on the top of the mountain and visit the most magnificent Sanctuary in Portugal and its magical staircase.

    Known for the city of the Archbishops where we will visit its historical center, visit the interior of the Cathedral. We will have exclusive access to the interior of the chapels as well as the high choir of the monument.

    Stop for a delicious lunch at the Diana Restaurant where the intense flavors of the northern cuisine of Portugal combined with the Vinho Verde (Green Wine).

  • Guimaraes Castle

    The oldest castle in Portugal was where the first Portuguese king grew up and has a very important significance and a reference to the country's independence.

  • Paco dos Duques de Braganca

    Most tour operators don't visit the interior but we do and tickets are included. The Palace of the Dukes where we are dazzled by the luxuries of royalty from other times. A whole history of Portugal will be told by our local guides who have always followed the group.

    At the end of the day we invite our visitors to discover the romantic medieval city of the historic center of Guimarães. We will stroll through the narrow old streets of the city and possibility for some souvenir shopping.

Both destinations are worth a visit

Both destinations have an nteresting history. Guimeiraes is a lovely medeival town that I wish I had more time to explore and take it all in. Our tour guide Pedro was entertaining and gave us funny snippets of the history.

Pedro was an excellent guide who was very knowledgable and extremely personable. My wife was in a walking boot because of broken toe and he ensured that the tour went at a pace that fit her condition. Very good tour, but Pedro made it special. Would highly recommend this tour and Pedro as a guide.

Great way to see two important towns in Portugal

This tour was pricier than others, but I felt it was well worth the extra money. Besides going to several locations, we also had a wonderful lunch that was at a fairly classy restaurant. Important to me (and I checked before booking), they had great veggie options. One thing that was touted on their description was the upper chorus chambers of the cathedral, that were not on most of the lower priced tours, was almost worth the extra cost. They are amazing, as is the church. The tour was well planned, and Sergio spoke great English, was entertaining. and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this tour and the two towns, as they are full of Portuguese history.

Piedro was our guide. He was informative, pleasant, humorous yet always professional. He made us feel like we had insider information because he was so knowledgeable and shared his love of the area and the history with us. Lunch was a lovely little restaurant in Braga. Both towns were wonderful.
