Nuno was an amazing guide with a great sense of humour. The weather was iffy and we trusted him to show us the best of Madeira (which he did). Levada walks, Poncha, scenic views, you name it. It was a joy to spend the day with him.

We had an excellent day exploring Madeira with Nuno. Nuno was extremely knowledgeable and his enthusiasm was infectious. I would highly recommend this trip.

Myself, my wife and adult daughter took a private tour of the eastern half of Madeira. Our guide, Hugo, was fantastic! We visited so many areas with beautiful scenery and fantastic views that we could never have seen on our own. Hugo also gave us some great ideas for what to do on the rest of our vacation. We were so impressed with their team and our experience that we ended up booking another Hit the Road Madeira tour for later in the week! Highly highly recommend.

This is out 10th visit to Madeira and I’ve lost count of the number of times we take a tour with Hit The Road but as always it’s a brilliant day out and the best way to see the island. Once again our driver/guide/companion was Hugo who knowledge of the island is second to none. But then I guess that what comes from being a local. Not does he manage to chase the sun and avoid the rain, he also manages to avoid the crowds and rental cars. Something that la becoming increasingly more difficult. Wee today he surpassed himself, we arrived at the Fanal forest only to be met be a sea of rental cars (see first image) but Hugo knows a spot and manages to park away from the cars and right by the forest. Hugo also appears to know everyone on the island, every time we stopped at a bar he’s greater like a member of the family and you end up getting the best service and the best drinks. If you want to get the best out of the island, forget the rental car and book a toor with Hit the Road and ask for Hugo.

We booked a private tour for 4 people. We have booked with hit the road before and had an excellent experience. We toured the West of the Island and our driver Tiago put a route together in conjuction with our requests. Tiago was an excellent guide, lots of information and we stopped at many beautiful locations missing the crowds. We had an extent lunch at Calheta Green restaraunt and finished the tour off with traditional poncha at A Vendra da Andre. Our thanks to Tiago for a wonderful Derulo day.
