Meiji Shrine (ęę²»ē„å®®, Meiji JingÅ«) is a shrine dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and his consort, Empress Shoken. Located just beside the JR Yamanote Line's busy Harajuku Station, Meiji Shrine and the adjacent Yoyogi Park make up a large forested area within the densely built-up city. The spacious shrine grounds offer walking paths that are great for a relaxing stroll.
The shrine was completed and dedicated to Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken in 1920, eight years after the passing of the emperor and six years after the passing of the empress. The shrine was destroyed during the Second World War but was rebuilt shortly thereafter.

Built-in 1958, Tokyo Tower serves as a symbol of Tokyoās rebirth after World War II. The towering structure stands 333 meters tall, becoming a ubiquitous photo spot for tourists. Two observation decks provide extensive views across the city and a four-story complex on the ground floor offers shopping, food, and entertainment. Unfortunately, when we visited, due to Covid, it was closed to visit the observation decks. Still, we were very impressed, especially with its lights at night. It is right next to Zozogi temple and easily accessible from Hamamatsucho or Daimon Stations or Onarimon or Akabenebashi Stations
40 minutes

Sample a range of sushi, Japanese-style omelets, fried fish cakes, sake, and Japanese tea in this in-depth experience of the legendary market.

Imperial Palace
The current palace was constructed in the same spot where Edo Castle used to stand. Most of the palace grounds are not open to the public except for the East Gardens, which are accessible on select days.

Tokyo Skytree
The Tokyo Skytree (ę±äŗ¬ć¹ć«ć¤ććŖć¼) is a television broadcasting tower and landmark of Tokyo. It is the centerpiece of the Tokyo Skytree Town in the Sumida City Ward, not far away from Asakusa. With a height of 634 meters (634 can be read as "Musashi", a historic name of the Tokyo Region), it is the tallest structure in Japan and the second tallest in the world at the time of its completion. A large shopping complex with an aquarium is located at its base.

Senso-ji Temple
Sensoji (ęµ čåÆŗ, SensÅji, also known as Asakusa Kannon Temple) is a Buddhist temple located in Asakusa. It is one of Tokyo's most colorful and popular temples.
The legend says that in the year 628, two brothers fished a statue of Kannon, the goddess of mercy, out of the Sumida River, and even though they put the statue back into the river, it always returned to them. Consequently, Sensoji was built nearby for the goddess of Kannon. The temple was completed in 645, making it Tokyo's oldest temple.

An Amazing Day with Hiro-san!!!!

Tokyo tour with Hiro Mizoguchi
Published on Nov, 2024
Hiro gave us a wonderful tour of some of Tokyoās highlights! As well as being a delightful person and fun to be with he was highly knowledgeable, giving great insights into the places we visited and the Japanese way of life in general. We participated in a lot of fun and fascinating things we wouldnāt have known about if weād been visiting on our own, particularly our spectacularly delicious lunch! In response to our sushi request, Hiro made a quick phone call to his favourite sushi restaurant near the fish markets, which doesnāt ordinarily take bookings. In no time we were seated opposite our master sushi chef watching him whip up the most scrumptious and most varied sushi weāve ever had. What a treat!
Hiro tailored our tour to suit us, whipping in and out of the subways with ease. We highly recommend him for a perfect introduction to Tokyo!
