THIS TOUR has the entrance TICKET TO THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK INCLUDED IN THE PRICE Get ready to explore the ancient city and its ruins: we will start from the main entrance of the Porta Marina Superiore. With VESUVIUS in the distance, we'll talk about the last moments of POMPEII, the disaster, and the HISTORY OF THE EXCAVATIONS. We will pass through the Basilica, the Roman Forum with the market and the main TEMPLES...we will walk through the Maggiore Decumanus looking inside the Roman Bath (spectacular and recently opened) without forgetting to pay attention to the different erotic symbols scattered throughout the ancient city and inside the Lupanare! We will then explore some of the most beautiful DOMUS recently opened and in particular the most fascinating. The visit will continue to be among the shops of the Roman period, Termopolium. Pistrinum, Teatro Grande and Piccolo, Barracks of the Gladiators and much more! Be amazed! We look forward to seeing you!

Meeting points

The guide will meet all his guests at PORTA MARINA SUPERIORE, at the entrance to the archaeological park in front of the Bar Hortus. The meeting point is located 50 meters from the Pompei Scavi Villa dei Misteri stop of the Circumvesuviana train

  • Pompeii Archaeological Park

    Porta Marina Superiore: the guide will be waiting for you outside the archaeological park with the sign “Pompeii Vip”. It forms the western entrance to the city and the name "Marina" comes from the fact that the outgoing road led to the sea.

    Temple of Venus: temple dedicated to Venus, patron goddess of Pompeii

    Basilica: was the most lavash building in the Forum, and served as a space for the management of business and the administration of justice

  • Temple of Apollo

    The Sanctuary of Apollo: it is among the oldest of Pompeii's places of worship, built at a strategic point along the street that led up from Porta Marina to the public heart of the city

  • Foro de Pompeya

    Forum - Main Square: it represents the center of the city's daily life

  • Tempio di Giove Capitolino

    The Temple of Jupiter: it dominates the northern side of the Forum, and behind it rises scenically Vesuvius

    Macellum: it was a monumental building used for the sale of food and daily consumer products. Here it is possible to see some Plaster Casts - BODIES (the archaeological method to find the ancient bodies as they were at the moment of the eruption)

Lots of walking on very uneven terrain was challenging. But the information and sights made it worth it. Wish I knew how to identify our tour guide when we arrived at the site. This was true for our other Viator tour as well.

I had high expectations for my visit to Pompei and this tour exceeded them! Ricardo was a great guide, giving expert insight into Roman architecture, Pompei city life and details of the eruption and its aftermath.
