Overview

Do you want to see the ruins of Pompeii? Do you want to visit corners of the city where tourists don't arrive? Explore the ancient city, its ruins and take a trip back in time. From there looking at the volcano, the Mt. Vesuvius, we will pass through the Antiquarium, where I will show you the objects found during the last excavations, such as the coin that changed the date of the eruption. Continuing we will pass through the Basilica, the Forum with the market and the main Temples ... we will walk through the decumanus major. We will explore some of the most beautiful homes. The visit will continue through stores and shops, roman restaurants, a visit to the famous bodies, Theatre, Gladiators' Barracks. PLEASE NOTE: Entrance fees to the archaeological park are NOT included, but we send a link to purchase them online between the afternoon before the tour and the morning itself, so don't worry!

Meeting points

The guide will be waiting for guests at Porta Marina Superiore in front of "HORTUS BAR" with a sign "POMPEI VIP". The meeting point is 50mt from the train station "Pompei Scavi - Villa dei Misteri

Itinerary

  • Pompeii Archaeological Park

    Porta Marina Superiore: the guide will be waiting for you outside the archaeological park with the sign “Pompeii Vip”. It forms the western entrance to the city and the name "Marina" comes from the fact that the outgoing road led to the sea.

    Temple of Venus: temple dedicated to Venus, patron goddess of Pompeii

    Basilica: was the most lavish building in the Forum, and served as a space for the management of business and the administration of justice

  • Temple of Apollo

    The Sanctuary of Apollo: it is among the oldest of Pompeii's places of worship, built at a strategic point along the street that led up from Porta Marina to the public heart of the city

    Forum - Main Square: it represents the center of the city's daily life

  • Tempio di Giove Capitolino

    The Temple of Jupiter: it dominates the northern side of the Forum, and behind it rises scenically Vesuvius

    Macellum: it was a monumental building used for the sale of food and daily consumer products. Here is possible to see some Plaster Casts - BODIES (the archaeological method to find the ancient bodies as they were at the moment of the eruption)

    Forum Baths: they are one of the best-preserved elements of the city. Female and male parts had separate entrances.

Raphael was a fantastic guide. He made sure everyone was there and assisted with tickets. He was really informative and humorous.
