Overview

In this tour, we will learn more about the political and military history of Himeji and Japan. This tour takes place in a historic castle. Himeji Castle is one of 12 Japanese castles still very well preserved with their wooden main keep still existing. We can still visit it today without any problems. The castle dates from 1346 and we currently see it as it was in 1618. You will learn more about the History of Japan, with your guide, passionate or even graduate in Japanese History, who will explain to you the ins and outs of Japanese politics of yesteryear. You will have a good lesson in history and exciting architecture in perspective, unique to Himeji!

    Himeji Castle, nicknamed the White Heron Castle for its color, is a Japanese fortified castle. It dates from medieval times and is one of only 12 Japanese castles to have been perfectly preserved. UNESCO has also designated this castle a World Heritage Site. Itā€™s beautiful! And now it is open to our visits.

    The west wing is the second part of the visit to the castle. We discover the apartments of the samurai, the maids, then Princess Sen, and their way of life is explained.

My wife & I went to Himeji Castle in Japan on April 7th 2024. We had an English speaking guide hired through Japan guide agency . Her name in Hiromi Mizoi...She is well versed with the History of the castle & her English explanation is very succinct to follow through. She climbs the narrow castle steps with vigor...We had a great time
