Overview

The first day you will stand in Fromelles, visit the museum and the Pheasant Wood cemetery, go to VC Corner Cemetery and the Australian Memorial Park. You will see one of the mine craters of Messines, Hill 60, Polygoon Wood and Tyne Cot Cy. in Passendale. That night you will attend the Last Post at the Menin Gate in Ypres. The second day will put the focus on the Somme, Villers Bretonneux Adelaide Cy, the Memorial, Le Hamel where General Monash will use new tactics and Pozières and its Windmill and Moo Cow Farm. You will end the day at Bullecourt in the museum and the Australian Memorial Park.

    You will see the Pheasant Wood and the place where the 250 soldiers were found, stand in the newly built cemetery. You will have a look at the museum.

    You will visit the park, see the German and Australian lines, no man's land

  • VC Corner Australian Cemetery

    You will stand at the cemetery, it is the only exclusive Australian Cemetery iin France

  • Messines Ridge

    You will see the ridge captures by Australians, New Zealanders, British and Irish troops in June 1917.

  • Hill 60

    You will walk on the hill, see the Caterpillar Min Crater and the memorial dedicated to the 1st Australian Tunneling Company.

Very informative private tour of the Australian WW1 Western Front Battlefields

This tour can accommodate up to six people, although I booked this tour to have a personal guide through the battlefields. Claude was able to accommodate me as the sole tourist without any problems. The sites and his knowledge of what took place at those sites, was great. This added another level of depth, having visited the sites, when reading about the battles in the museums. Claude also had to put up with a lot of silly questions as we drove through different towns. Claude was also happy to provide recommendations for accommodation, shopping, dinner and drinks. All in all, an excellent tour with an excellent guide.

This tour provided all that we hoped and more. We traveled as a family and all weee catered for. Claude, provided a wealth of information and paced the stops to our needs. We couldn’t have asked to see anymore and his candour and information in the car along the 2 days was a delight. The experience was intimate and emotional to finally visit some of the sites we have only read about. I am so happy we booked to see it with this tour as we couldn’t have asked for more
