Overview

With Art of Wine you will be able to have access to exclusive vineyards thanks to Fábio Rocha, the winemaker guide. You will have a winemaker showing vineyards, providing wine tastings and explaining all the particularities from this Unique Terroir that makes these wines so special and unique

Madalena Harbour (passenger terminal where Atlanticoline operates) and look for a young guy with a company shirt (Art of Wine) close to a white 9 seat van

What To Expect

1. Pico Wine Museum At Pico Wine Museum Fábio's guidance will be a source of information and will answer all your questions. Here, you will be able to see and feel all the history regarding Pico Island's Wine production. 1 hour

2. Criacao Velha Walk throught a UNESCO World Heritage Landscape with a propper explanation about the particularities of this Unique Terroir. Along with Fábio, it is possible to go into some vineyards that are not allowed to go without guidance, most of them belonging to Adega do Vulcão where Fábio used to be the winemaker at. 1 hour 30 minutes

3. Taste 3 Adega do Vulcão's wines made by Fábio Rocha, the Art of Wine previous resident winemaker. Solar Terra Brum/Solar dos Salemas is a small palace where you can enjoy and taste ancient Pico Wine history. 1 hour

4. A site of the Island that is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. Lajido de Santa Luzia is knowned as one of the most beautifull places in the Azores. Get to see the vineyards from this outstanding place, and walk through the "pahoehoe fields" 1 hour 30 minutes

5. Wine tasting at Cerca dos Frades - 4 wines: 2 "Cerca dos Frades" Wines 2 "Insula Vinus" Wines Both made by Paulo Machado winemaker 1 hour 30 minutes

A must experience wine tour on pico island. Fabio is extremely passionate and knowledgeable about the regions wine and general wine making. It was so informative and a really beautiful way to experience the beauty and literal art of wine. The wine itself was exceptional and many of them rare. So it was definitely a one of a kind tour! We had such a wonderful time and cannot wait to bring our family and friends the next time we visit.

We have had an half day tour and learned a lot about the wine industrie and the history behind it on Pico and Fajal. It was very fun to learn so much about the stories behind it and how it all started a long time ago. Fabio is very passioned about his job, the island and the wine. The stories behind every single on of them made it even more special! It was amazing and I would really recommend this tour when you are at Pico!! You can even walk or Fabio takes you around by car, so pretty much everyone can participate. It is a very lovely way to relax a bit during the active stay on Pico. And afcourse we did not leave without one of the tasteful wines we had!
