Overview

Immerse yourself in the fascinating history of the Transporter Bridge and its industrial past. We will follow the route to the coast until we reach the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve. There, we will see from the distance at the lookout point, San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. Next stop at the fishing village of Bermeo to enjoy a nice tasting. Then we will complete our route with a stop to the historic town of Gernika to visit the area of the Assembly House and famous Tree of Gernika.

  • Puente Colgante Vizcaya

    We will enjoy a nice short stop to discover from below this unique industrial structure heritage of Humanity by UNESCO,

    20 minutes

  • San Juan de Gaztelugatxe

    We will stop at the lookout to discover from above in the distance this unique corner of the basque coast. There is no time in this excursion to visit on foot the hermit.

    15 minutes

  • Bermeo

    We will enjoy a nice stop at this traditional fishermen village with narrow streets and typical houses and taste a unique local gourmet delicacy, an special pintxo included.

    40 minutes

  • Casa de Juntas

    We will enjoy a nice guided visit to this emblematic location for the basques. We will learn about the history, traditions and meaning of the famous basque oak tree. With regards as well to the famous paiting of Picasso "Guernica"

Very interesting and historic bridge (read Wikipedia about it) in a beautiful setting. You can sit and watch the hanging car go back and forth, avoiding any passing ships.

Friendly guide, good organisation, and nice overview of some of the best sights outside Bilbao

Everything was as expected from an organisational perspective: we were picked-up on time and driven to the different sights in a confortable minivan according to the schedule. The group was pretty small which was nice to socialise a bit on the way and meant there was no time wasting as managing everyone was easy for the guide. The guide was friendly, spoke good English, and gave us good background information about the various sights. We were overall very satisfied with the tour as we had limited time in Bilbao and it allowed us to get an overview of many sights in the surrounding areas. Lastly, do note that it is somewhat of an express tour with limited time at each location. This was neither a surprise nor an issue to us as the tour schedule was clear and accurate, and seeing those places within a limited timeframe is what we were looking for. Just pointing out you should review the schedule and make sure the timing suits you before booking.

Unusual site worth visiting

This is such a fascinating, unusual bridge. You can pay €10 for the loft to take you across or pay €3 for the ‘ferry’. We did the latter. It was really interesting and there are nice paths to walk along the riverfront.

The tour was excellent. The tour guide was professional and kind. The places we visited are nice. The schedule is very tight and smooth.
