  • Palatine Hill (Pass By)

The Palatine Hill, which is the centremost of the Seven Hills of Rome, is one of the most ancient parts of the city and has been called "the first nucleus of the Roman Empire." Imperial palaces were built here, starting with Augustus. Before imperial times the hill was mostly occupied by the houses of the rich. The hill originally had two summits separated by a depression; the highest part was called Palatium and the other Germalus. Using the Forma Urbis its perimeter enclosed 63 acres; while the Regionary Catalogues of the 4th century enclose 131 acres (53 ha) .

The best tour EVER!!

Published on Jan, 2025

We reserved a private tour of Rome and it could not have been better!!! Our tour guide, Nicola, was knowledgeable, kind, and professional. He went out of his way to personalize our experience to meet our interests, but also made excellent recommendations, based on his vast knowledge and experience. We only had one day in Rome and he was able to give us a very comprehensive overview of Rome’s most famous sites, and shared the history of each. He answered all of our questions, took his time with us, never rushing, and even made an amazing dinner recommendation and reservation for us!! I highly recommend this tour, and this tour guide for anyone visiting Rome!!

Excellent Tour of Rome

Published on Dec, 2024

We had an amazing day with Nicola and Stefano touring Rome. Nicola our guide has an extensive knowledge of the history of Rome and he is an incredible story teller. His love of Rome is contagious. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at Osteria Dei Pontefici where we enjoyed homemade pasta and wonderful service. Don’t forget the Limincello. Definitely grab a meal at Osteria Dei Pontefici. We spent 8 hours with Nicola and Stefano and we enjoyed every minute of it. Stefano is a skillful and patient driver able to handle the traffic or Rome with ease. Nicola has a wonderful sense of humor and respect for the history. Although some of the places were a bit crowded, Nicola made us feel as though we were the only ones as he was aptly able to avoid the crowds. We highly recommend this tour. And we are grateful to Nicola and Stefano for creating a memorable Rome experience. Gracie.

Fantastic tour of Rome

Published on Dec, 2024

We went on the 8 hour tour. It was very much worth the money! We got to see so much of Rome, and Nicola knew so much about the history of the city. We were only in Rome for a day, so this was by far the best way to see as much of the ancient city as possible
