    Your first destination is the Capuchin Crypt. Capuchin monks used the bones of nearly 4,000 of their brothers to decorate this somber space in intricate floor-to-ceiling designs, lending it the macabre nickname of ‘the Bone Chapel’. Here you will be free to explore hearing all the interesting details and the reasons behind such an unusual practice with your audio guide. Open your eyes to the city’s hidden side – and you’ll never see Rome the same way again.

  • Catacombe Di Domitilla

    Your expert historian guide will explain how this network of sacred tunnels is associated with the first Christians in ancient Rome. You’ll descend into the labyrinthian corridors carved into the soft volcanic rock and discover the frescoes, strange iconography and burial places which doubled as places of worship when the Christians were persecuted.

  • Basilica di San Nicola in Carcere

    When you exit the catacombs, your bus will take you to the Basilica San Nicola in Carcere, where you'll explore its ruins, descend beneath the altar, and unearth atmospheric remains of ancient temples hidden beneath the church. The historic Forum Holitorium, an ancient market surrounded by Republican-era temples, lies concealed beneath the basilica, adding layers to the city's rich history.

Such an interesting tour! The catacombs were very eery but a must see! Your guide was fantastic, knowledgable, friendly and at the end of the tour told us about local must see sights as well as where to eat that evening which ended up being the best meal of our trip!

Definitely not a trip if you're easily freaked out by death. For anyone interested in how the early Christians handled matters of death vis a vis their Roman counterparts, this is a great tour.
