  • From early November to March, except during the Christmas period (26/12/24 to 02/01/25), the Vesuvius isn't accessible and it is replaced with a visit to Positano where you will get free time to explore the city. Please notice that the Lunch stop will not be included when going to Positano.
  • Option to upgrade to Pompeii, Amalfi Coast and Positano Small-Group Day Trip from Rome with private coach (Mt Vesuvius or Naples not included)

This is a tour you can't miss. Not only is visiting the ruins of Pompeii an incredible experience, but going through a tour group gives you so much more information you wouldn't have otherwise, even with an app or some other resource. Walking through the ruins learning about life in Pompeii before the eruption was unforgettable. I had a great tour guide who taught us so much and we covered a lot of ground and still had some time to explore. Our tour had the Vesuvius hike option, which was also incredible. It's less of a "hike" and more like a moderate uphill walk on a dirt/rock trail. There are some loose rocks that you should be mindful of coming down, but otherwise, it was a very easy hike. The views of the coast were beautiful. I am not great with heights and I didn't have an issue here. I do get car sick and the drive up the mountain was not enjoyable. Try to get a seat in the front if you do! The stop in between the hike and Pompeii for limoncello, chocolate, and then pizza was also SO GOOD. Overall, I highly recommend this tour!

Viviana was our lovely, charming, and very engaging guide today from Rome to Pompeii, Positano, and the Amalfi Coast and back. She couldn't have been a better guide: fun, knowledgeable, and super personable. Titziano, our driver, was essentially a magician -- driving down to Pompeii and then along the twistiest coastal route to and from Positano like he was born to do it, and then all the way back to Rome with nary a yawn. Safe, smooth, and extremely impressive. The guide (Carlo) at Pompeii was excellent, fun, smart, and knew his stuff as well. The pizza in Pompeii was ok but the bus was climate controlled and comfy, and the day was informative, entertaining, and really excellent. And we're not usually bus tour folks. It's a long day but City Wonders does a great job making it fun, organized, and informative.
