Overview

Experience the city, costumes, tradictions and gastronomy! Althought this visit is oriented for the wine of the region (Vinho Verde), we will give you a overview of the city of Guimarães itself. In the heart of Minho region we find the first portuguese capital. Today still keeps it's medieval look and structure, that we will stop to admire and have a lunch break between wineries visits. You will visit (and taste) the production of two fantastic farms in the region. An older one with Vinho Verde production for centuries. And a second visit, in a young and bold project located in a charming location. We will wait for you. Cheers! Cheers!

What To Expect

1. Largo do Toural Piece of the fortified walls 5 minutes

2. Guimaraes Castle X century construction. One of the oldest in the city. Birthplace of Portugal's first king 15 minutes

3. Paco dos Duques de Braganca XV century palace. One of the most visited monuments in northen Portugal. 15 minutes

4. Centro Historico de Guimaraes Humanity heritage by UNESCO since 2001, this small Historical Center stands as one of the most well preserved in the world! 30 minutes

5. Largo Republica do Brasil One of the most beautiful (and most photographed) avenues in the city. 15 minutes

6. Zona de Couros Ancient ruins of the areas where animal leather was treated and shaped for the shoe manufacturing. 15 minutes

7. Vinho Verde Route We will visit 2 Vinho Verde/Green Wine producers in the region. Small and medium size, so you can understand diferences in production and tasting 4 hours

Quick summary guided tour of the old city

We had only just arrived in the hotel in the old city but the tourist office recommended Peddy tours and we phoned him..came In 10 mins and spoke excellent English. Great fun going through the narrow streets in the old town and he pointed out the various sights as well as the fascinating history. Very good value start to our discovery of beautiful Guiamaraes.
