Discover the charm of Portugal’s two oldest cities on this full-day tour of Guimarães and Braga from Porto. In the Roman city of Braga, home to the oldest archdiocese in Portugal, we will start our visit with the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus. Afterwards, we will appreciate the imposing cathedral, which dates back to the 11th century and all the surrounding area like the St. Bárbara garden or Porta nova. After a relaxing lunch break that will certainly allow you to enjoy the pleasures of the cuisine of the north of Portugal, it will be time to continue towards Guimarães. Visit the medieval Castle and church of saint Michael. Walk through the ancient streets and city squares of the the medieval village of Guimarães, the birthplace of the nation and clasified as UNESCO World Heritage site.

Laid out in the 1950s the garden was designed by Jose Cardoso da Silva in the Romantic style, in keeping with its surroundings.

Violet is the one of the best tour guides that we had ever had. She is so personal, knowledgeable, and funny, and a great driver, too! We've learnt a lot about Portugal itself, and the country's history. The itinerary was very well balanced between guided tours and free time. And did I mention that the lunch was simply delicious?

Tour guide (Violeta) was lovely and a wealth of knowledge about all we were seeing. Having her available to educate and answer questions was essential to the experience! Add in her great personality and driving it made for a great day and an awesome tour.

My husband and I had the pleasure of having Hernan as our guide. Hernan is very personable, entertaining and knowledgable. We visited many sites with enough free time at each site for a quick look around. The lunch provided exceeded our expectation. Thank you Hernan for a great trip!
