    Discover the Royal BC Museum and celebrate BC’s diversity through enlightening and inspiring galleries that capture the stories of the people, plants and animals that call the province home, and see fascinating exhibitions from around the world. Take a stroll around Old Town, a recreation of a turn of the 20th-century town in BC. Visit Jonathan Hunt House, a ceremonial house and museum installation of the house of the late Jonathan Hunt, a Kwakwaka’wakw Chief. Check out the award winning, Our Living Languages, an exhibit that shares the history and beauty of disrupted languages in BC. Finish the adventure with an immersive cinematic experience at IMAX® Victoria, BC’s largest screen. Enjoy the other remarkable historical venues on our grounds, including Helmcken House, St. Ann’s Schoolhouse, the Netherlands Centennial Carillon and Thunderbird Park. Our precinct also hosts food trucks and the 2% Jazz cafe. Located on Victoria’s Inner Harbour, we are within walking distance of downtown.

Entertaining and educational

We primarily went to see the Stonehenge exhibit which was superb. We have been to the museum before and it is packed with other exhibits. The main exhibit changes every few months but is always worth the visit.

Excellent Museum with lots of insightful exhibits. Worth the visit in Victoria. Visit took 3hr plus.

A fun visit

We spent about a half day in the museum in November of 2024. It had a wide variety of activities and exhibits. There was a small tribute to Terry Fox, the inspirational Canadian runner, a Stonehenge exhibition, a “Modern Canadian “ exhibit of innovative products, an indigenous language experience and more. For younger audiences the “old town “ area could hold their interest and, maybe, the Stonehenge stuff but beyond that I think it’s the imax movies that would appeal. Our “Arctic “ movie was in 3-D (I think they all may be) and it was well worth the cost. The “City of the Future “ film looked like a “kid of all ages “ winner.

Lots of neat history! Wooley is a fascinating reminder of just how small a human really is in comparison to mighty beasts of the past.

Very well done exhibits. Leave yourself enough time to explore them all. The special exhibit was Stonehenge and it was incredible.
