    Overview

    Geisha traditions are traced to the spiritual center of Kyoto, where they were specified as geiko and maiko. Such a lovely tradition can hardly ever be enjoyed privately. From centuries ago, geiko and maiko parties have been given privately only for limited members of society. This tour makes it possible for visitors to truly experience the essence of geiko and maiko in an authentic manner. During the event, English-speaking guides will escort you around the geiko and maiko district, to be followed by a dinner or party arrangement lasting two hours. Since geiko or maiko are privately arranged only for your group, you will have the chance to fully exchange conversations with them and hear their stories which would normally not be told to the public.

    What To Expect


    1. Minamiza Theater Meeting location is in front of Minamiza Kabuki Theater facing the Shijo street.
    2. Gion Guided walk on the way to private tea house or Japanese restaurant, and private party with Maiko / Geiko accompaniment. Total 3 hours (walk + party) 3 hours

    Worth it!

    This was such a great experience. We did the private tea route. Expensive but we all agreed that it was worth it. We had the privilege of seeing one of the oldest geiko. She was so sweet and lively. We really enjoyed her. Our meiko was beautiful and we liked to see her dance. It was very special to be able to talk to them and ask any questions. Our guide Mia really was informative and really helped walk us through everything.

    A very informative and fun experience. Mia, our guide, was very engaging and knowledgeable. Our Maiko was very pleasant and eager to share her journey to Geiko. Her performance was great as well. The restaurant handled our complex food preferences very well

    Fabulous evening with a true Maiko and Gaikō

    Every part was and adventure and absolutely wonderful. From the short tour of Gion to entering the private Teahouse and escorted to the room where I met the Maiko and Gaikō. They were elegant, gracious and beautiful. We chatted while my meal was served, their lives were incredibly interesting. Then the entertainment - dancing and shamisen and then the games. All in all an incredible private evening and a glimpse into what happens in a private setting with a true Maiko and Gaikō. After I returned to my hotel I wished I has asked more questions but was so nervous at the time I did not. I would do it again in a second.

    One of the best experiences of our trip

    This tour was so much fun. We did the private tea house tour and had one geiko and one maiko, the tour guide, and my friend and I. It was an all girls night. They played music and danced for us, and we played a drinking game, and the food was great and we had plenty of wine, but honestly we could have chit chatted away the whole night. Our tour guide acted as translator, but even with the language barrier we got a vibe going and we laughed so much once the conversation started flowing. We didn't want the night to end.

    Getting to chat one on one with a Meiko was a once in a lifetime experience. We will never forget it and our guide/interpreter was incredible.
