Overview

We start the day with pick-up at the client's hotel, with Leiria being our destination, a city in central Portugal that is home to the Sanctuary of Fátima, a place of Catholic pilgrimage. Get emotional when you understand the story between the 3 little shepherds and the Chapel of Apparitions, the place where the Virgin Mary allegedly appeared in 1917. Other holy sites include the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, with its golden angels, and the modern Church of the Holy Trinity. Explore the birthplace of the 3 little shepherds, visiting the house where they were born and lived their first years. We end the day with drop-off at the client's hotel.

What To Expect

1. Porto Pick-up at the client's hotel/accommodation and travel to Fátima 1 hour 30 minutes

2. Basilica de Nossa Senhora do Rosario de Fatima Basilica that integrates the Sanctuary of Fátima, located in the place of Cova da Iria, in Fátima.

3. Capela Das Aparicoes The Chapel, in the heart of the current Sanctuary of Fátima, was built by people in 1919, in response to a request made by Our Lady during one of the apparitions. The first mass that was celebrated there was in 1921. The image of Our Lady marks the place of the holm oak tree, the site of the apparitions. 2 hours

4. Basilica of the Holy Trinity You can visit the Church of the Holy Trinity in the Sanctuary of Fátima, in front of the Basilica. The church is a modern building, being the fourth largest Catholic temple in the world in terms of capacity. 30 minutes

5. Fatima Free lunch 1 hour 30 minutes

6. Valinhos Sanctuary Between the 8th and 9th stations of the Way of the Cross, on the Caminho dos Pastorinhos, is the place where the fourth apparition of Our Lady took place, on August 19, 1917. Currently, Valinhos is visited by thousands of Portuguese pilgrims and foreigners who follow the Way of the Cross route to the Hungarian Calvary, visit the Chapel of Saint Stephen of Hungary and then visit the Casa de Lúcia and the Casa de Francisco and Jacinta Marto in the village of Aljustrel. 1 hour

7. Casa De Francisco & Jacinta Marto Aljustrel, the village of Pastorinhos. The houses where the Little Shepherds of Fátima were born retain their original structure. The two houses are on one floor, with whitewashed limestone walls. The interiors, comprising a kitchen, living room, bedrooms and storage, feature furniture, some period, that recreates the scenes from the Shepherds' childhood. 1 hour

8. Casa De Lucia Located in the city of Aljustrel is the house of Lúcia, the only witness to the apparitions of Fátima, the one who had the longest earthly life, having died in Coimbra on February 13, 2005. 1 hour

9. Porto Travel to Porto and drop off at the client's hotel/accommodation 1 hour 30 minutes
