Overview

Notre Dame is a must for any trip to Paris. Though it’s still closed for restoration after the April 2019 fire, you can still experience the amazing cathedral from the outside on our Notre Dame walking tour. Learn how it took a century to finish, relive the night people all over the world watched the fire, and look to the future of Notre Dame’s reopening with stories and insights from your local guide. Your guide will take you to the scene of the fire and point out the iconic features for you to admire, including the towers, gargoyles, and spires. Just steps from the cathedral, you’ll get as close as possible to Point Zero, the geographic center of Paris that’s sometimes considered a place of good luck. Finish your walking tour at the entrance to the archaeological crypt below Notre Dame, where you’ll explore on your own this fascinating underground world, featuring exhibits and artifacts dating back to Roman times.

Meeting points

If you are facing the Crypt and Notre Dame, the meeting point is on the right side, next to the Statue of Charlemagne. For easy navigation, paste the following coordinates into Google Maps: 48.85315934616719, 2.3482103769428857. Your guide will be holding an orange sign that says “ExperienceFirst.”

  • PLEASE NOTE: This tour doesn't go inside Notre Dame. Though the cathedral has recently reopened, group tours are not yet permitted inside Notre Dame. You are welcome to try to visit on your own after the guided tour. This guided experience is an outdoor walking tour of the area surrounding the cathedral, followed by entry (ticket included) to the crypt beneath it.
  • It is possible that the crypt can be closed at times for construction or maintenance. In this case you will receive an hour-long guided walking tour around Notre Dame but you will not be able to enter the Crypt.
  • Add on a Seine river cruise. Your ticket is good for a one-hour cruise along the Seine anytime within one year of the date of your tour.
  • This is a guided walking tour of the area around and outside of the Notre Dame Cathedral followed by a self-guided visit of the Archeological Crypt. There will not be a guided tour inside Notre Dame, as group visits are not yet permitted. You are welcome to enter the cathedral on your own before or after the tour.
