It is located in the city center and in the Kürkçü neighborhood to the east of Alâeddin Hill and on Mevlâna Street. In the foundation deed dated 1202 of the Altunapa Madrasa, which was known to have been adjacent to it in the past and was demolished over time, both buildings became famous first with the name İplikçılar and then with the name İplikçılar, due to the yarn maker Necibüddîn Ayaz, who was appointed as the trustee of the madrasa, and the İplikçılar Bazaar near the mosque. It is thought that the domed structure adjacent to the qibla wall of the mosque belonged to one of the domed rooms of the collapsed madrasah.
The building, which was built of bricks on a rectangular seating area extending in the north-west south-east direction, is currently in a pit due to the street and pavement that have been raised over time.
