It is the most popular of the four 5th stations on Mount Fuji and the best developed and easiest to access by public transportation from Tokyo. The Fuji Subaru Line 5th Station is accessible almost year-round, snow conditions permitting, and is a popular sightseeing spot even outside of the climbing season. The station is reached by the Fuji Subaru Line, a scenic toll road up Mount Fuji's lower northern slopes, that begins in Fujikawaguchiko Town. It may temporarily get partially closed in winter in times of heavy snow. Furthermore, the road is closed to private vehicles during the majority of the climbing season (July 14 to September 10, 2023). At 2300 meters above sea level, the Fuji Subaru Line 5th Station offers a commanding view of the Fuji Five Lakes area below, making it a popular spot even for those who are not intent on climbing the mountain. An observation point with unobstructed views of Fujiyoshida City and Lake Yamanaka can be found at Komitake Shrine behind the shops.

It is known as the starting point for the ascent to Mount Fuji summit via the Fujisan Gotemba Trail. Togendai also offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape and Lake Ashi.

Owakudani (大涌谷, Ōwakudani) is the area around a crater created during the last eruption of Mount Hakone some 3000 years ago. Today, much of the area is an active volcanic zone where sulfurous fumes, hot springs, and hot rivers can be experienced. Additionally, Owakudani has good views of Mount Fuji on clear days. Eggs cooked in Owakudani's hot spring pools with their shells blackened by the sulfur are on sale at shops in the area, and eating one is said to prolong one's life by seven years.

The Gotemba Premium Outlets are Japan's most popular outlet mall, located in Gotemba City at the base of Mount Fuji, not far from Hakone. The mall features around 300 stores and restaurants, a food court, a 50-meter-high Ferris wheel, a hotel, and a public hot spring bath. The stores found at the Premium Outlets are the outlets of internationally known brands of fashion, sports, food, household goods, and electronics, and range from everyday items to luxury goods. The prices are not ridiculously cheap, but they are better on average than what you will find at regular retail shops in Japan. Overall it is a nice place for a day of shopping, with a lot of variety and reasonable prices.

Today we went on the Cherry Blossom and Mt Fuji day trip. Harry was our guide and driver. He was very prompt picking us up from our hotel in Tokyo. He provided us with bottle waters and made sure he stopped for bathroom breaks along the lengthy drive to the area. He provided us with great information and made sure we had plenty of time at each stop. I highly recommend this day trip and our guide Harry.

We had an amazing trip with this group! Our guide, Mr. Rana, truly went the extra mile to show us every place we wanted to see. Despite the rain that day, he made sure we got a glimpse of Mt. Fuji. He didn’t worry about the time or distance and took us to all the possible and beautiful spots. We had a fantastic time and would highly recommend this tour agency to anyone visiting the area!

This is a great way to get to Hakone and Mt Fuji visitor center. Awais is an incredibly amicable and helpful driver. He gave us some basic background information about the sites. He gave us a great tip for a local authentic noodle lunch at the gate and took awesome family photos. We got super lucky with perfect clear skies and cherry blossoms everywhere. Perfect day trip from Tokyo.

Very relaxing experience with lovely guide Awais. Very informative, visit to small villages around Mt. Fuji area. I highly recommend to take this tour with your private guide and driver. You don’t feel pressured with time. Unfortunately the mountain was all day in clouds but it didn’t spoil our day.
