Overview

This full-day tour allows you to go from a morning visit to Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe, to the beautiful and surprising valley of Alcantara river in the afternoon. In the first part of the excursion, you will submerge in nature and visit old craters and lava flow caves, enjoy breathtaking views, and taste typical local products. In the afternoon, before seeing the famous basaltic canyon named Gorges, you will walk next the river Alcantara through a lush vegetation until to visit the Gurne, little lakes created by the same river.

This was really an unforgettable day. We had a day that started at a pleasant river that we waded in and were able to take very cool pictures from there. We continued on to Etna where we had an amazing time with the trek up. This was followed by wine tasting and tasting of various olive oils and delicious spreads. We met some very nice people from different places and this also made the trip more enjoyable. Our guide, Guiseppe Barbagallo was wonderful He clearly takes his job very seriously and has a passion for what he does. He was incredibly knowlegeable about the volcano and also about a variety of other topics regarding Sicilian dialect and culture. He had a very large English vocabulary that he clearly worked on and was a very warm gentleman.
