Overview

Make your way up to Eira do Serrado where you'll find one of the most exclusive and beautiful views, not to mention a great "green" location unlike any other in Madeira. The journey down to the Nuns Valley (Curral da Freiras) village takes approximately 20 minutes where guests will enjoy the countryside, forest brushes mixed with populated areas with quaint houses typical of the Madeiran society. The village is very isolated and locals mainly live off what they cultivate. The local chestnuts are delicious and are used in everyday cooking. Upon your return, stop at the stunning fishing village of Câmara de Lobos. This is were Winston Churchill spent his time painting his beautiful landscapes and were you will be able to try the famous local drink, Poncha.

A fun adventure

We enjoyed the whole experience:) A fun afternoon activity, the driver/guide was knowledgeable and friendly. The van is spacious and comfortable. The views were spectacular! I recommend this tour.

Great trip. Hotel pick up, clean vehicle. Our guide was very helpful, knowledgeable and a great driver on the twisty mountain roads. Nice stops, just about the right time. Beware there are quite a few steps at Nuns valley to see the church and the museum (which was closed). Nice cafe if you just want to sit and admire the stunning scenery.

so turns out "valley" of the nuns is incorrect - it's corral because the nuns went to where the animals were kept. the stops were long enough, we got about 40-50 minutes to wander around each time. Ricardo had a very calm voice and he's multilingual! thank you for the drive, it was very impressive :)
