Overview

Discover the “Golden Age” of Bruges with an entrance ticket to the Historium, Bruges' most visited attraction. Travel back to one day in 1435 with Jan van Eyck's apprentice and follow his story in 7 historically-themed rooms (with airconditioning). Learn the history of the city through film, props, audioguides and an interactive exhibition. In about 1 hour you'll get another impression of Bruges and are you ready to discover the city.

    In the Historium Story we take you on a time trip to medieval Bruges. Let yourself be swept up in a wonderful love story while walking through seven historical themed rooms – magnificent medieval backdrops, with film, music and special effects. Using an audio guide you will hear everything about the Golden Age of Bruges and imagine yourself back in the time of Jan van Eyck. The Historium is located on the Market Square, where the Waterhalle used to be. This was the central warehouse for the shipping industry in the thriving trading city. The location has been reconstructed in the attraction and gives your visit an extra dimension.

Perfect experience

The story we were able to experience here made the museum visit a unique experience. It was the most entertaining and informative museum visit I've ever had. I would recommend it to everyone. We had a small problem with the children, but the employee Eline was so accommodating and super friendly that everything was resolved. We haven't experienced such service very often anywhere in the world. Thank you, it was great.

Very pleasant surprise. The story experience was absolutely awesome. Plus the beer terrace with the wide selection of beers is something I did appreciate a lot.

Fun and educational

My family had a terrific time walking through this very clever interactive tour. A few places were a little dark, but my phone flashlight came to the rescue. Keep in mind there are some steps to go up. We skipped the VR headsets, although that looked like fun. The tour ends on a balcony overlooking square. Great views.

Must to do with kids

We were two adults, and really enjoyed this experience. But kids and even teens would really get more out of it. I found the story engaging and the special effects required nice. This is a must to do if you’re with kids and optional if you’re not.
