Overview

The Deluxe Lake Spa offers a serene lakeside retreat to relax and rejuvenate. Set against the peaceful backdrop of Lake Rotorua, it features five mineral-rich hot pools, including four alkaline and one acidic, ranging from 36°C to 41°C. Refresh in the cold plunge pool or unwind on geothermally-heated loungers in our indoor relaxation lounge. This child-friendly space encourages quiet enjoyment, with families welcome to share the experience, though children must remain quiet to preserve the peaceful atmosphere. Amenities include towels, secure lockers, and complimentary toiletries. Adult supervision is required for children under 8. Optional swimsuit rentals are available for convenience.     Admission is for the day of booking, and is not limited to a particular time of the day. Relax and unwind at Rotorua’s Polynesian Spa – a world-leading, natural mineral bathing and luxury spa retreat. Geothermal waters nourish the skin and relieve tired muscles, aches and pains, while decadent therapies rejuvenate through ancient and modern techniques. Combined with the healthy café, Polynesian Spa restores the body inside and out. The world-leading natural hot mineral bathing and spa treatment facility was built on the site of historic bath houses for which the city first became world famous in the 1800s. The Spa continues to evolve and focus on health and wellness, introducing passive and active bathing experiences for increased immunity and greater energy levels. At Polynesian Spa, elements of early buildings and baths have been carefully retained and the site is registered by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust. This ticket provides access to the premium bathing area 'The Deluxe Lake Spa' which includes a range of mineral rock pools at various temperatures. Utilizing both alkaline and acidic mineral springs, the Deluxe Lake Spa is ultimate in geothermal bathing experiences. The therapeutic waters at Polynesian Spa come from two different natural springs: The Priest Spring is named after Father Mahoney, a Catholic Priest who was ‘cured’ of his crippling arthritis from bathing in the waters in 1878. The slightly acidic water from the Priest Spring relieves tired muscles, aches and pains. The Rachel Spring is a source of alkaline water, which features the antiseptic action of sodium silicate nourishing the skin. It was historically said that those who bathe in the waters of the Rachel Spring are blessed with ageless beauty The combination of these two types of mineral waters is only found at Polynesian Spa.

Wonderfully relaxing environment with beautiful views.

Loved it! Several pools of varying temperatures to dip into. Pools right by the lake overlooking the beautiful views. Heated sunbeds to sit and relax on. Also, there were covered areas for shade. Cool drinks available from the cafe. Perfect day.

I've lost count of the number of times I've been to Polynesian and this was my third Aix treatment and it was the best to date. I usually intensely dislike a head massage but had decided to say yes to everything on offer including the head massage & I am sooo glad I did. It was an epic experience & may have changed my life-long aversion to head massages. I've tried all of the hot spring spa options in Rotorua & Polynesian consistently wins best in show for me & I will be back time & time again.

A blissfully relaxing afternoon

I booked the ‘Pure Fiji Moisture Drench Facial - 60 minutes’ This involved arriving an hour earlier so I could enjoy the beautiful thermal pools beforehand. There are tastefully stone lined pools filled by natural thermal springs. Each pool is a different temperature 2 alkaline and one slightly acidic and apparently good for joints. I then had a blissful facial including a hand wrap while I enjoyed an amazing shoulder massage and a face mask during which I received a lovely arm and hand massage. I was the offered ginger or mint tea in the relaxation lounge. I will definitely be doing this again if I am ever in the area! My masseuse was a lovely lady from Fiji I think called Mariyah?

Very nice spa! excellent massage and very friendly staff. super clean and fine. Very quiet and peaceful. the afternoon became very busy but until than we had a very nice time. good coffee, too!

Hot Pools, Cold Plunge & Stunning Views – Loved It!

I visited the Polynesian Spa as part of a larger tour, and it was a fantastic experience. Check-in was seamless, and before heading to the pools, I grabbed a quick bite at the café. The pools themselves were excellent and incredibly relaxing. There are four hot pools and one cold plunge pool, each offering a unique experience. The water was clean, though, since the pools are outdoors, there was some natural detritus like fallen leaves and the occasional bug. However, this was easy to overlook while soaking in the peaceful atmosphere and stunning lake views. It wasn’t entirely clear from the tour description or online whether I needed to bring a swimsuit, but I’m glad I did. Towels are provided with admission, and swimsuits are available to rent for an extra charge if needed. One thing to keep in mind—the pools contain sulfur, so your swimsuit will have a lingering smell afterward. Overall, this was a wonderful and rejuvenating experience, and I would absolutely visit again!
