Setting out from Rotorua, your Hobbiton Movie Set Tour starts with a scenic drive across to Matamata where your local driver guide will provide informative commentary and share stories about the region and its history. Take a guided tour of the Hobbiton Movie Set and learn how this picturesque farmland was transformed into a living, breathing piece of Middle Earth. Your guide will show you Hobbit holes, the Green Dragon Inn, the Party Tree, the Mill, and many other structures from the movies. You will also be able to venture beyond the door into an authentic Hobbit Hole interior on Bagshot Row. Then enjoy a tasty lunch at The Party Marquee before making your way back to Rotorua.

Great Sights comfortable bus ride & amazing Hobbiton Movie Set Tour!

The Hobbiton movie-set tour had us in heaven. It is truly a delight to see all the well-loved sites & sights come to life, as well as to learn all the interesting history and techniques that were used to make the Shire from Jordan & Danny! Hanna (evil-twin Sheila) and Rachel made the rides from Rotorua to Matamata, and from Matamata to Auckland interesting and go by quickly, for which we are very appreciative.

scheduled our whole trip to new zealand around the availability of this tour. did not disappoint. went on a beautiful day. our guide, Nutter, was a bunch of fun. food was surprisingly very good and varied. highly reccomend for all those other Tolkien needs out there.

Better than expected. Lovely tour guide. Very enthusiastic and good fun. A self confessed geek. Loved going inside the house. Attention to detail was amazing. The lunch at the end was delicious.
