Overview

Come and enjoy an impressive Full day tour through one of the deepest canyons in the world. Disconnect at least one day from the city and fully enjoy the nature that surrounds this valley. Our guide will show you all the beauties such as the huge birds, beautiful alpacas and vicuñas and more than 79 different types of cactus. Our tour starts very early to be able to arrive on time at the Condor's Cross and watch the condors flying over our heads, follow our route to different tiny towns and of course visit the relaxing hot springs. After lunch in Chivay we will take you by bus straight to Puno where you will be drop off at your hotel if it's in the center of the city. Do not miss it and book now. It will be an unforgettable experience!

Itinerary

  • Condor's Cross

    After picking up all the participants we depart from Arequipa at 3:30 am and we drive to Chivay where we stop for breakfast and later continue to the Condor's Cross which is the best place to watch the Canyon and the famous Andean Condor birds.

  • Colca Canyon

    The Colca Canyon is twice as deep as the Grand Canyon. The area surrounding the Canyon is famed for its traditional and colourful towns which you will pass through along the way. In the Canyon you can find over 100 kinds of birds, over 300 types of plants and more than 30 types of cactus. The highest point of the Canyon is Ampato at 6388 meters above sea level. These snow-capped peaks form an impressive backdrop to the Canyon.

  • Hot Springs Chacapi

    After the condor's cross we go to the hot springs, which are located close to Chivay. The entrace costs 15 soles and it's not included in the price. In the Hot Springs you will find different pools with water temperature from 30ºC up to 60°C. Coming into the Hot Springs is optional but it's definetly a nice experience.

  • Salinas y Aguada Blanca National Reserve

    In the way back to Puno we stop into the reserve in a place called Pampa Cañahuas to see Volcanos but also camelids as Alpacas, Llamas and Vicuñas. The stop is only 15 - minutes but you will see volcanos and camelids during more than 1 hour. Once we arrive in Puno you will be dropped off in your hotel if it's located in the center of the city.

Transfer to Puno including Colca Canyon

It is a long day with pick up at 3am and drop off in Puno at 6pm, but the company picked us up when they said they would and the guides were good. We saw Condors, went in the thermal springs and effectively incorporated a travel day so would recommend for anyone doing similar.

The early start warranted this amazing tour. It was well organised and we were rewarded with the spectacular view of Colca Canyon and the Condors. The visit to the hot springs is a must!

Efficient and helpful

We had little time to visit Peru, so this transfer has been incredibly helpful and gave us the opportunity to visit Canyon Colca. It was a long transfer (9h of bus in total), but we couldn't really feel it as there were many breaks. We changed bus 3 times, but it was smooth and they carried our luggages for us. It's still one of the most expensive transfer we've done but it was worth it. We also enjoyed the hot water break and we slept a lot in the bus

Beautiful journey from Arequipa to colco canyon

We went with Illary from Arequipa who booked us into the tour starting at 03.00 . The driver was promt to pick us up from air b and b and we headed out to colco canyon stopping many times at view points. Our guide Roy was able to talk in English which helped to understand the history. We saw a couple of condors though Roy said it was a little windy. The transfer to Puno went smoothly .

Beautiful time in Colca Canyon, we were lucky we saw close to ten condors as we had heard some people don’t even get to see a single one. The canyon itself is amazing, never seen anything like it before! The side trip to the thermal pools was not for us but others did enjoy it. The transfer to Puno was very enjoyable with the few stops we had to view other places or even the scenery alone the way. For a 6 hour ride the bus was very comfy and specious, we were even provided with bottled water and a snacks bag, completely unexpected but rather a nice surprise. The guide also helped everyone arrange for transportation (taxi) to their hotels as they drop you off at the bus terminal in Puno. Highly recommend this tour/company.
