Overview

By far one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, Elafonissi is situated on the south west coast. A tropical effect is created by its white and pink coral sands. Head to the right for shallow water in a small enclosed lagoon ideal for the children. A walk through the lagoon to the islet is most worthwhile as you will discover this unique coastline.

We will stop at the cave of Agia Sofia where there are options either for breakfast or to visit the cave (257 steps).

Elafonissi Beach

One of the best beaches in Europe with white and pink sand and crystal clear water. To reach the beach we walk through the protected area (900 meters walk.) A shuttle van can be arranged for people with disabilities upon agreement with the guide.

We will make a stop at a nice restaurant in Elos. Tuesdays and Sundays we do a roundtrip returning from another road and the stop is in Amygdalokefali.

Crete amazing Experience by myself

amazing experience I had in my time in September this year. I intend to come back; there is only one thing that disappointed me, but I assume it’s because I’m a very fussy eater. The cuisine I’m not fond of is very plain food, but could be me not. Everybody has the same taste, but the people love it. I intend to come back to this amazing and so beautiful place to explore. Very high recommendations. Love it, intend to come back.

Breathtakingly beautiful and excellent tour.

We had such an amazing day here. Starting out early we stopped for coffee etc and had enough time to climb up to the cave and back if you get your coffee/tea to go. I recently had back surgery and didn’t find it difficult at all. We enjoyed the tour guide’s commentary immensely, (Simona I believe?). The walk down wasn’t difficult and for October 22nd the water was still warm once you get in. There were enough umbrella lounges and this beach/lagoon was unique and wonderful. A late lunch on the way back was perfect. I would definitely recommend this tour. Also, if your hotel isn’t on the list just reach out to them and they’ll make arrangements as well.

The "pink" beach

The 1.5 hour drive from Chania was a really beautiful drive over the mountains- in and of itself worth a trip. The beach was just beautiful, but not as pink as we expected, but as wonderful an experience as it was, my wife and i both preferred Balos.

Gorgeous beach! We booked a coach trip to Elafonissi beach via our hotel, this cost €29 and took an hour and 20 mins to get there. We stopped at a local honey factory on the way which had a great cafe with stunning views over the mountains. We arrived at the beach by 11:00 and the coach parked at the top of a hill outside a shop where you could get snacks and drinks etc. it was a 10 min walk down to the beach via a stone road. The beach has toilets that cost €1, showers and changing shacks. There was also a cafe on the beach which was reasonably priced. The beach is gorgeous, nice sand and crystal clear water. The first part is a lagoon which was great for families as it is very shallow. We walked across the lagoon over to the island which was mind blowing, pinkish sand from the coral and shells with gorgeous clear waters! We did some snorkelling around the rocks, we found a few varieties of fish and the tiniest shells I had ever seen. Amazing beach!!

Wonderful trip to Elafonissi with Sofia being a really informative guide who told us lots of information about Crete, the culture and it's history, which was great! The stops on the way to the beach, and the way back, meant the trip was broken up into chunks and you weren't stuck in a coach for hours on a time. Highly recommended and with stunning scenery throughout. Elafonissi beach is absolutely stunning but do be prepared for windy weather and make sure to wear sun lotion as there is relatively little shade.
